Hood Clearance on 74-78 C- Bodies

I have an Edelbrock 2186 Performer Intake, an Edelbrock square/spreadbore adapter, Edelbrock 1406 carb w/electric choke. I'm still waiting on the 14x3 Edelbrock air cleaner assembly to arrive. Has anyone installed a similiar combo know if this combo will have enough clearance under the hood, or it is close, or no way - it won't fit. I was thinking I could make a ball of foil and try to close the hood with the foil sitting on top of the new carb when I install the intake, adapter, and carb and see if there is enough clearance for the air cleaner.

It will fit with the Performer intake but I highly suggest using the drop plate air cleaner base. The adapter pushes it to the limit
It will not with the Performer RPM.

Thanks Commando. I have the Performer intake and the Edelbrock 4224 air filter which looks like a drop deck bottom plate on the website. It should be delivered any day now. I probably can get a 14"x2' filter to replace the 3" filter that comes with it if it won't clear the hood. I don't want to restrict the air flow by going to a 2" filter unless it's absolutely necessary.
