My 65 polara steering wheel is shot. To widen my search, can my horn ring easily fit say 65-67 chrysler, dodge, and plymouth wheels? I don't care if the wheel is absolutely correct for the car, but I don't really want to go with a damn aftermarket Grant wheel or such.

I know you said you don't want aftermarket, but rather than a Grant, you could get a Nardi. I got a wood-rim Nardi for my '68 Dart years back, and they have a Chrysler adapter. It's nicely made and although aftermarket, it looks like you intended to do it, no that you had do do it.

Pricey, though.

Edited to add: Just read the whole original post, sorry. I see you want to keep your horn ring.

But back to the Nardi: I've kept it all these years because it was too nice to sell with the Dart. Since I have the adapter for Chrysler, I'd put it on my Imperial, if it would work with the telescoping feature. But it won't, so it stays wrapped up in towels and a pillowcase, waiting for the right project car to come along...

How shot iz shot? Iz the wheel clear plastic or colored. If it'z all colored I'll ask you if you know how well the 4 minute Quik-set JB Weld can plug crackz 'n holez in those steering wheelz? Ah little time with ah couple wood rasps and ah rattle can in the apropreate color and you're good to go and only your partz counter guy will know for sure! Ask me how I know this, Jer

If it was just a few cracks I would fix it. It's toast my friend.

its not so much that I am wanting to keep my horn ring, it's more keeping a stockish appearance. For instance, if I sourced a 67 plymouth wheel that mounts on my column, I don't want a plymouth horn button medallion in my Dodge. I am not one hundred percent opposed to aftermarket, and even Grant has a couple nice looking wood rimmed wheels, but they seem to look more at home in classic mustangs.

65 dodge polara, dodge monaco. 65 Chrysler newport, new yorker, 300, 65 Plymouth fury all use the same steering wheel's. If reusing your old horn ring be sure to get the right wheel. They made 2 spoke and 3 spoke wheels. I believe 66 changed size and a little different shape. If you go 66 just get everything. wheel and horn ring. The 65 center cap will still fit the 66 wheel. The 67 wheels are larger in diameter than the 65-66. They also use a different style horn ring. Best bet get a 65 wheel, or get a 66 complete wheel w/ring.

I knew about the two and three spoke designs, but didn't know about the size change. Thanks for the info.

If they're correct about them all being the same, I do have a couple or three extra 3 spoke Dodge horn rings. Have to look to be sure but I think at least one or two were NOS.

Let me know what you find please.

Well, my memory is fading - there's 2 on the shelf, both in pretty nice used condition, but nowhere near new.

I don't want to steer you wrong. I know for sure that the center cap will fit another 2 spoke horn ring. I have heard that the 3 spoke ones use a different cap....... But that was a sport style wheel without a horn ring. It had horn bars on the spokes. That was on a 67 3 spoke trying to fit that cap to a 2 spoke wheel. I would say 2 spoke horn ring to 3 spoke horn ring it should be the same. Just not on a sport style wheel.
This is the sport style wheel Iam referring to.

Say I purchase this wheel, obviously my current two spoke horn ring won't work, but I can use my center cap on this three spoke horn ring? Then only the wiser guys would catch that it's not correct since it's not a full ring like the Polara? Hmmmm...

Well, out in the light, they're usable but far from perfect. The best one shines nice and is straight, but has a bit of pitting.
