Posting this for whomever is going to Carlisle and is planning to stay here, "here" would be:

Days Inn Carlisle South
101 Alexander Spring Rd., Carlisle, PA 17015 United States (USA) (717) 609-4999.

Was thinking about the upcoming Carlisle show, which compelled me to confirm the reservation I made last year after having to cancel in 2018; and was glad I did. If you made a reservation at this property through Days Inn, you probably don't have it any longer.

According to the weary person at the front desk I talked to, this hotel is going through a "transition," and will shortly emerge as a Best Western. Wyndham/Days Inn (or whomever own /ownED it?) deleted all the reservations without notice. Seems that they're on a "new system" now and are not a Days Inn any longer.

As of today they had availability for the 12-13 July weekend (Carlisle Nationals) and got a new reservation. I stayed here once in 2017, and it wasn't anything to get excited about, but it was decent, well located, and not over-expensive.

Hope this helps, and I hope the place won't have closed by July...……..

That is called something else now. I forget the name. They tore down part of the building. Whole thing looks a mess.

There is a new Microtel on Westminster Drive, they may have vacancies.

FWIW, if you can't get a reservation, head into Harrisburg. It's not that far away and there should be vacancies.

You are talking about Hotel Ava Carlisle South. I had reservations there through Hotels.com, 2 rooms, 2 queens per room. Came back as 2 rooms, 1 king per room. A couple of phone calls, several times on hold, and never a call returned I cancelled the reservation. There is a reason this is the only hotel near Carlisle that has any rooms available for that weekend. I found rooms just north of Chambersburg, only about a 30 minute drive south on I-81. I stayed in Chambersburg last year, reasonable rates and not a bad drive to the Carlisle Fairgrounds.

This is what we had to do a couple weeks back. There was still a couple rooms available closer, but no justification for the $350 or so a night. Got ours for $80 a night only 25 mins away according to old google.

I did the Days Inn in Harrisburg. I took the back roads to the show and avoided the back log of traffic from I 81. It is also a pretty scenic drive too. Very pretty.

Thanks or the heads up! We took your cancelled reservation last year. It was a decent place to stay and the parking lot "show" before and after the nationals was pretty impressive. I almost made the return reservation before we left, but we had such a good time at the bar downtown we ended up making plans to stay at the Comfort Suites on Hanover Street.

ZOINKS - not comforting - thanks for the tip, though. The guy I talked to couldn't remember anything for more than 3 seconds, but made a reservation for me.

Spoke to a nice guy at the Microtel - they're sold out, and I found out half the (former) Days inn was torn down because of mold. I think I won't stay there.

I DID find a spot at a B&B on the south end of Carlisle, where I have stayed before for Saturday, at not a bad price either.

That Comfort Inn is quite tempting, as you could walk (well, almost) to the fairgrounds from there...… I assumed it would be fully booked years in advance. Glad you found an alternative, though...…

Any motel I've stayed at there will not let you book years out.

All - I DID find room for Saturday (7/13) at a B&B just south of Carlisle that's pretty nice, and not too expensive; still looking for Friday 7/12. I DID notice though that the Carlisle House B&B has availability (probably a cancellation), however it's a 2-room suite at a nightly rate of about $279, probably not bad split 4-5 ways, but not needed for me.

Get your Hotels and Motels in Mechanicsburg, PA 17050 or Dillsburg, PA has some small hotels or Camp Hill, PA or the small outside towns just a few miles from Carlisle PA. Like Mt. Holley, PA Boiling Springs, PA. There are alot of bed and breakfast places in these places also. Better rates that are not jacked up in Carlisle due to car show. I am a local here so I know the area. Look for the little small towns to get motels. New Kingston is another small town near by. Mechanicsburg has a vast amount of good hotels. Also on the Carlisle Pike in Mechanicsburg there are good reasonable hotels. Also along Rt. 15 in Mechanicsburg Hotels. These are all about maybe 10 miles or more from the Fair grounds. Also, don't forget about asking for a Military Discount as most will give you this if you are a Vet. Bring some sort of ID or paperwork but most of your Military Discounts have to be done over the phone when you do your reservation initially. Also, ask for seinoir discounts they all help out in todays high costs. Also there is a big Walmart parking lot for all you RV's that is friendly and no charge to park or camp there daily and nightly. It is located on the Carlisle Pike in Mechanicsburg, PA. Also you have Carlisle Army War College and Mechanicsburg Naval Base that has a free open gym with showers that you can use if your not getting a room and just need that. Will need some sort of Military ID to get thru the gate though. The may be lodging available cheap on the Army War College but I know there is no more lodging at the Naval base in Mechanicsburg anymore. Hope to see you all there at the show. I have eight flea market spots right up from Legendary Interiors spots. My spots are in the O-79 area I will probably have some C-body parts and barrel fulls of chrome.
