How does the rear window trim molding attach to the rear window of a 1964 Imperial Crown Coupe?

We removed the stainless trim from the rear window and are a bit confused as to how it goes back on (don't ask). I have a bunch of clips labeled "rear window trim" but don't know if they are intended to snug on to the rubber or attach to something else. A little advice would be greatly appreciated.
