Non-Mopar attention whores buy them cuz they can't afford a 396 Caprice.

I like them for what they are. An attractive and somewhat unique Fuselage. I have yet to meet a true blooded C-body lover where this car has been their lifelong dream to own.

The more you know about C-bodies, the less passion it inspires in you.

I like them. Usually don't like the sellers.

The "parts car" looks like a 1971 without the vinyl roof. And much cleaner/straighter. I'm already alot more interested in it than the Hurst....

I have one, and really enjoy it. I just drove mine for the first time on Wednesday. I have been working on it in the evenings for the past month rebuilding the brake system, fuel system, rear end, and exhaust. I will be rebuilding the carburetor in a week or two as the rear barrels don't open up. My car had sat for at least 20 years. I have a long way to go to get it back into tip top shape but let me tell you, when I made a trip around the block three times, all I did was grin from ear to ear and giggle like a school girl. I bought mine last winter from an acquaintance of a board member here. Are they the best car ever, no, but they are darn cool in my opinion.

While the fiberglass hood and decklid look like they will need some attention on your car, the rest of the body looks very nice from what I can see. I am sure you will enjoy your Hurst. The first car I ever bought was a standard 1970 Chrysler 300 coupe as a used car back in 1972 in Birmingham, Michigan, and I still have it. I personally think it is the best car I have ever owned or driven - it just does everything well. And it always puts a smile on my face when I drive it or look at it. You have a great project and I am sure you will continue to enjoy it as you roam the plains in North Dakota. Here are a couple photos of mine. All the best to you.

You have a special car and when done will turn heads everywhere you go. The styling blows away any full sized Chebby or Furd from the era...

Great to hear you got it running after all these years. So glad coming all the way out here for it has paid off for you. Keep up the good work!

This b/w press release photo sold me to the Hurst. Badass IMHO, still one of my favorites apart from the Forward Look Chryslers.

I agree with some on here its not the top choice in desirability ( I'd sure as hell would be proud to own one) but as far as a factory built C body intended to be a muscle car, this is the top dog

Nice work on bringing it back to life! Give anybody respect who works full time and wrenches on their ride when time permits. Enjoy it

Thanks guys. Saforwardlook, that is a beautiful car! I hope some day mine looks that good. I'm sorry, but I get annoyed almost every time I read a Hurst post. Seems like a lot of people think anyone who owns one is a rich prick, or at the very least just a prick lol. I bought mine due to the uniqueness of the car, and I really liked the styling. Mine has some rust issues but over all it is in fair shape. Better than the one for sale on eBay. I am mainly into A bodies, but I enjoy my Hurst and my Monaco just as much.

Thanks! Sure wish we could have met up. Hope you guys are doing well. I will keep you posted a I progress. Going to work on the interior this winter while I start to save for the body work.

I kinda like the 300H cars, but they aren't my first choice. The colors were good in 1970, but are a bit dated now.

I think they've gotten a bad rap because there have been some non-Mopar types that have been watching Barrett Jackson and think that every low production Mopar is worth a fortune. They buy cheap (or at least they think it's cheap) and then expect to flip it for enough money to retire on. That's unfortunate... They're great cars and not something you see everywhere.

I'm glad to see another one that's in the right hands... Being restored and enjoyed for what it is... A great piece of Mopar and Hurst history.

Debate able . The GT would be the top dog, it's gotta be. It was part of the RTS, with optional colors and packages. The Hurst is a Hurst and that's it

Good point you make, the hood and decklid on the 300H sorta separate it from the GT. But ultimately it would have to be a V code '70 GT that takes the cake.

Agreed partially. The GT regardless of the induction system is top dog. Then the Hurst I presume. Qualities that define a muscle car varies in opinion. I nor anyone else would consider my 71 Polara a muscle car, though it was built exactly like a GT but as a Dodge. The GT wins the C body muscle car debate as far as I'm concerned...

Then again, what about the 426/440 4 speed cars? Are they muscle? Damn it, who knows

I dare to say a base model Newport stripper with the 440 is the real muscle car when talking full size or the equivalent Dodge/Plymouth base model, comperable to a base Road Runner (just sort of naturally), the Hurst and GT are jazzed up in most cases with more Options and heavy Standard Equipment already like the power Windows/seats in the Hurst for example.

I definitely dig your '71! I'm a long way away on my '65 to even think about it being the turn key cruiser your enjoying!

And yes a big block 440\426 4 spd C body's are ,in my humble opinon, definitely muscle cars. :icon_super:

Were there ever 426\440 4 speed 300s made in the slab era? I'm curious as I've never seen such a machine....

NICE FIND! Many people don't know that these cars had 440-6 "base" engines in them with the heavy duty 6 pak rods, etc, minutes the 3-2 barrel carbs. This engine was the same engine as in my 1970 440-6 Superbird, minus the carbs.....
