HVAC box question...

So my ‘66 has had a few repairs on it, including some HVAC work on the heater box. It’s sealed with some gaskets, some various silicones, and some sort of white putty that’s really soft but kind of waxy.
What is that white stuff? What can I use in its place?

That or strip caulk.

Not sure of your car model or if you have AC, but if you have the box out, you might consider this:

Thanks, but it’s a ,66 Imperial with AC and this is the section that’s in the engine bay. It’s nothing like what that kit is designed for. From what I can see the Imperial has nothing in common with that.
