I thought that moving here would feel like the end of the Earth. It turned out I staked out Paradise about 35 miles short of the end.
Poor aimWhile all of you are reading about Carlisle today, Jeff @cantflip came down to Fumbuck County for lunch. Afterwards, swung over to The Reservation and immediately disrespects Sovereign Nation.

While he was here, he bought a case of cigs at 10 bucks a carton and filled up his Suburban at 0.98 cents a gallon. The casino isn't open yet.Was he smoking, and leaving the butts on the sovereign land?
And that's Florida for ya. ONLY in Florida....Yea Stan here in Volusia County there's a very large plot of land called IIRC 'Daytona Estates' which is very poor land to build on way out just east of our County seat Deland. There's some question as to who owns it, it was on the news 7/8 years ago as someone was caught trying to sell some plots (again) I think they came up with some unknown entity in South America as the actual owners of the huge plot.
In the picture with IDIOTVILLE in red (just to the right), that large cleared brown plot of land is what I think is the future 'Avalon' development which was just on the local talk radio as it is actually part of the 'Unincorporated' section of the City of Daytona Beach but it is so far out that the cost of running the water & sewer utilities out there has stifled any development in past years.
Welp they come up with a deal to do the water & sewer to the City of Ormond Beach just north of us and the local residents of that city ain't too happy 'bout that as their sewer plant is already overloaded and polluting the Halifax river. 25 thousand people are the future residents of that development. They also brought up the 'Toilet to Tap' issue in the final part of the segment with the host questioning along the line of if the prospective new buyers were aware of that future water source. I'm just glad we have been getting daily heavy rain here these days and maybe somebody will realize that there is a reason why nobody built out that way for many many decades.
