I guess I bought a GT?

AND the GT guys are always saying they have the last NOS piece of ( insert here) on the planet. NEVER presume ...

Yes , and also this seller collected some parts for his GT...…….

Now I have an even tougher decision to make.
Be a hoarder like me and keep them all! :poke:

I had tried to get Wyatt to ride along to Indy to be a relief driver, but he was supposed to pick up this car that same day. Too bad it didn't work out for me to stop by with my new ride the same day, that would have been cool. I was tired but the GT tips sure got my attention, what a nice surprise to find out the car is a GT.

Lucky bum!

I am entirely envious, as a 70 SFGT is one of my dream cars. Well done, and great colour too.

What are the options on it? Console? Power windows? AC?

I'd reach out to make an offer but it's just not in the cards for me. :(

I am late to the party haven't been here regulary in the last days.

First of all:
Congratulations Wyatt
A great score.

If you don't want to keep it: Let me know and we see if we can make a deal $$$$$$
I have cash and don't need to ask my bank, my wife or whom ever for permission to purchase something.

So how do you save survivor type cars? I'm only asking since in my experience Carsten has expressed several times he only wants original paint cars. You stated he has saved more cars than most here ....

very simple Dave. Some of the survivor type cars I bought in the past were in rough shape. One of them was supposed to die even in a demo derby in Ohio. Others were planned to be engine donors for B&E-Bodys in the US

To let them survive and not let parted out I bought a bunch of cars in USA.
Including a 69 Monaco wagon in F3 green original paint, E85 440 engine car (supposed to be parted for the engine).
69 Chrysler 300 in Q4 turquoise (was supposed to die in a demo derby)
71 Newport in FQ5 turquoise with white interieur (supposed to be parted out)
70 Fury Sport Suburban in FT3 (supposed to be parted).
69 Chrysler Town&Contry in F8 green (supposed to be parted for the engine)

These are just some out of my head.
I bought them, shipped them over, fixed mechanicals, welded them were needed and turned them into drivers again. Some are still with me other found new owners over the years. None of them died. Needless to say I only got a few cents back from each Dollar I invested but that is not what the hobby is about.

You cant go by supposed to's. So if you had a rusty hulk, Like Wyatts Wildcat car then yes, you saved it. If you took it off the trailer headed to the derby or crushers, maybe. Beyond that ....it's a serious stretch .

Not that it matters just for you some more details:

the 69 300 was still with the seller and he told me it is sold as he has a demo derby guy who wants and they had an agreement. I asked what I had to do to save the car.
Ended up in me paying 300 $ more than the original asking price (1500$) to make everyone happy in 2006.

The 71 Newport was bought by me from the demolition side "wecrash.com" where it was advertised 15 years ago as a demo car. I think that was a pretty clear sign.

the 69 Monaco wagon was advertised for its engine.
Was owned by a B-body guy in 2003 who did not need the engine anymore.
He was irritated when I asked about the car and told me he was going to scrap it after engine/trans/rearend/radiator is gone. Made a deal with him buying the drivetrain and getting the car for free included.

The other two wagons were cheap craigslist cars with "good for parts" attitude ads (2005 & 2008).

Keep in mind none of these cars were creampuffs but old used, rusty&tired.

Another one I saved was a 70 Monaco, 440 T-code car in green. It was impounded because of open fees from not paying registration in California. It was sitting in the impound yard which towed it in and where they auctioned it off in 2002. They were willing to pull the motor for me and wondered that I wanted the hole car. Made them a lot of work as it was a lien sale and I had to get a new title for it. And I had to pay the open fees in California because otherwise I wouldn't have gotten the title. So the purchase price of 910$ for the car was just one part. The paperwork and fees made me pay another 700$ back then.

No matter what you call it I have serious doubt they would be all alive today.

Dont call wildcat a rusty hulk! How rude:rolleyes:

I thought this was kinda neat. Brand new valve covers.
I would say the worst rust is on the rear body panel. When the car was repainted it appears that maybe a replacement stripe wasn't available and they opted for a BSM. These look nothing like the trim studs on mopars I've seen. Ouch. I'm gonna check the trunk gutter and cowl today to be sure. But I'm pretty confident that's what happened.

Dave, I'm not sure why this is a "maybe" Please elaborate.

That's me conceding that condition. But even then events Intervene and it doesn't happen.

Cars on wecrash many times are sold as good running cars....

Hey, it's no skin off my teeth. He's the messiah!

I thank gawd that you became a knowledgeable and intelligent C-body guy.
You ID'd it immediately and knew to drag it home, regardless of what that car's fate was had you been someone else.
Personally, I hope the car is guaranteed a mild restoration. Someone has to commit to $30k-50k over the long term and end up with a nice GT. More than that and it ends up garaged.
I know people will argue what the figure should be.
I wish I had your problem right now.

I knew it was worth grabbing up. So my buddy Andrew and I headed up Sunday morning. Manny rushed down and met me at the shop and helped me ID everything when we got back. Big thanks to those two. I can't possibly do everything alone.

I still remember the look on your face. I got down to the shop you said how do you tell if it's a GT i said A52. We walked up to the front of the car and popped the hood looked at the tag im sure both of us had the O face lol. Then it turned into what's missing and it wasn't much which is good.
