I guess I bought a GT?

That is indeed an interesting car and the rust isn't bad either. It also has interesting options based on the body code plate:

M25: Wide sill moldings
M31: Belt moldings (so it looks like those side moldings were factory - probably the only GT in existence with those, but I am not sure I personally would keep them in favor of the stripes that I favor though)
R22: AM radio with 8 track tape player (that means it has the 3 speaker dash! Nice, as you could also slide in an AM/FM stereo unit if you wanted and it would fit right in and work correctly)
V01: Monotone paint
Y05: Built to U.S. specs
V1X: Black vinyl roof
A01: Light package
A52: Sport Fury GT package
C16: Console with woodgrain
C55: Bucket seats
L31: Hood mounted turn signal indicators
EB7: B7 Blue
H6B3: Blue bucket seat interior
A23: Custom sport trim group (?)
E85: Standard performance 440
E32: Torqueflite transmission

Amazing find. What else can anyone say, plus some valuable extra NOS parts! Never say never.

Steve the "A23" on the tag is the SPD.
It was supposed to be assembled on the 23rd October 1969.

71Polara383,

I understand why you are on the fence on whether or not keep the GT. I just want to say that they are great driving cars with, IMHO a great balance between handling and ride and if you restore it, I don't think that you will ever regret it.

Well, don't dilly dally too long about what to do or it's going to turn into a Dan debacle where nothing gets done except for 10 years of Yada Yada Yada.
Think about it over the winter and do something positive with it come spring.

I thought this was kinda neat. Brand new valve covers.
I would say the worst rust is on the rear body panel. When the car was repainted it appears that maybe a replacement stripe wasn't available and they opted for a BSM. These look nothing like the trim studs on mopars I've seen. Ouch. I'm gonna check the trunk gutter and cowl today to be sure. But I'm pretty confident that's what happened.

Interesting tail pipe hanger in one of those pics.

Since I am quite late here....CONGRATS!

Definite score!

Rolled out the GT to get Minnesota out for pictures for the potential buyer. Figured since it was out I could get some pics for those wanting to see the car itself.

Great looking GT as is. Got a name for it yet, and has it spent it's entire life in WI?

Am I missing something here?

Did you buy it to flip it or are you keeping it?

Cash talks. But my initial plan was buy the unknown GT for the extra parts and part the car out. That little A52 code ruined my plan. Now I am leaning towards keeping it.

My car names:

The Chrysler
The Parts Car

If I owned a GT it would be....... The GT or The Plymouth.

:D

Sorry, I just don’t get the whole car gender-naming thing.

As for the keeping, parting out, selling question, I have struggled with this for several years regarding my “parts car”. Too cool to part, too early to part with, too much trouble right now to make a driver, so it sits.

If your heart isn’t into it then the end result will show. Just ask the guy who collected all the NOS parts for it in the first place.
