I thought I had a 727 Transmission but...

This makes me think it is a 904..
According to the model spec, the 925 was only used with the "buzzin' half dozen's" or older smaller Poly engines.

It's a Canadian built 66 Polara 880 model with a Poly 318.

Never heard of a "925" trans.

That's the casting number that you are looking at, not the trans model number.
 
Bump in the pan and starter location below c/l of input a/la old hemi, above c/l input big block/2nd gen hemi, way up high /6 . Anything else'is amc, international harvester.
 
Might have greased splines not trans fluid lubed. if thats the case i think input is smaller harder to get converter for
 
Then you have something nobody knew about until this thread.
The only polly & slip-yoke car is the '66 Canadian Fury 318...
