I'm having a disagreement with this guy. Should I drop it?

Really? Overseas or "export" models usually got the Kilos at a much earlier time, correct?

I was in the third grade (1974) when I first heard of this thing they call metric. It was gonna be all the rage

When I ordered my 76 D300 I had the option to take the standard speedo (miles only) or a no charge metric only unit. At that time we already knew what was coming so I ordered the metric only speedo. That was a pain in the @ss when it came to warranty work since the odometer was in KM and the warranty was in miles.

We started in the early 70s changing things a bit at a time. The change to KM roadsigns and speed was at the end of 77. From what I remember weights were one of the first things to go metric and volume (gas pumps) were one of the last in 78. But we still buy 2x4s and 4x8 plywood.

And those don't actually measure 2x4 or 4x8. LOL.

There was a 70 Hemi Challenger in Rochester with a speedometer marked in kilometers. Was supposed to have been a Canadian car.

That speedo would be an interesting picture. I don't believe I ever seen one in an E Body.

I could see myself walking around the big Canadian Mopar show looking at all the speedometers.

1957 Fury 240 km/h speedo from a Swiss export model. Pretty impressive figures.

I don't know whatever became of the car. I may have a pic somewhere from many years ago.

I guess it would be a 160 KM speedo if it was a Canadian model. I wonder if there was a 225 KM certified speedo for the 1977 Royal Monaco's. Did they use those north of the border for police use?

For C bodies the KM and MPH dual speedos came out in 1977. Depending on which side of the border you were dictated what had prominence (ie white lettering) on the speedo.

All 1977 models built for Canada received the predominate KM
speedos while the models for US production had MPH as the
predominate numbers. This began in 76 with the 77 models.
I know this because I ordered all the product for our Chrysler
Plymouth store.
