Imagine this was a Dodge instead...

I have my preferences, but also a respect and admiration for them all, no matter the manufacture. I can really only point to one "ugly" car. the 39 Olds.

IMO you're off by a few years.

The '39:

To me, the 1942 is the real ugly one. The front end reminds me of the last gen Honda CRV!!

1961-desoto.jpg3001961.jpgThe "ugliest" old car still beats the best looking new ones IMHO. But cosmetic model year changes and body sharing across the lines did not always appear integrated for sure.

Have to admit I also have a soft spot for the DeSoto despite being quite aware of the awkward design elements but it's still a close second choice.

I am a dyed in wool Mopar guy for sure. But my list of favorite full sized cars includes more GM then Mopar.
From the 50's thru the mid 60's any Pontiac, Buick or Oldsmobile convertible will do nicely
Cars like the 2+2 Ventura bubble top, Buick Wildcat or Riveria, or olds Starfire or 98 just cannot be denyed

There lays the problem. Stop kidding yourself that you're a responsible adult, shoot the whole wad on something like that, possibly getting divorced and knowing you will pay by going to hell, OR, keep the hell you're in now, keep doing what you always have done, and go to heaven...
I don't know why any manufacturer never had the balls to name a model Satan. That's what cars really are.

You never heard of the Dodge Demon, maybe??? Or the AMC Gremlin?

These always stopped me dead in my tracks.

Yeah, they are really quite pretty.

I know a fellow in Rhode Island who has an original '61 Starfire convertible. I saw it some years ago and was surprised to see that it still had its original convertible top, which was unique, with a silver fabric "stripe" of sorts on either side over the side windows. Here is the only pic of that exact car I saw that I could find. I have never seen this convertible top treatment ever before:

That's some interesting trivia about that convertible top, was a bit doubtful at first as I never remembered seeing this before, but I did some searching around and there show up a few others with this treatment and black tops.
