I bought this one yesterday. Went to buy a 66 dodge sweptline and it was rougher than what I thought so I hauled this home instead. 68 Newport Convertible. Well optioned. Sportgrain trim package. H code 383 h.p. bucket seat interior, air conditioning, am/fm stereo. Super solid car with no rust in floors or 1/4s.
I am currently in the muddle of working on a loaded 67 300 convert and probably cant afford to keep both.

Cool find. Might you be able to share the tag on the Newport so I can see if/how the sports grain was coded ?

Chrysler only made that Sportsgrain Newport for '68 and '69 if I am not mistaken. I think less than 200 verts were made each year. Hope you can figure out how to save both coolcars, because that 300 is great too.

If you could post the fender tag(s) for both cars would be appreciated.

It could be a different engine. Or somebody could have had valve covers changed. It is 40+ years old and doesnt seem to make much difference if its numbers matching for a c body.

I will probably end up selling the 68 newport convert. I probably gave too much for it plus hauled it home. So i may have to sit on it for a while. Either way I need to put the carb back on it and get it running and driving. I know its not too far from being mechanically good. A guy started to fix it up. Had a new top but its rotten and has holes in it now.

What is the deal on the 78 or 79 Lebaron on your trailer - you keeping it or selling it? I miss my old one. It was a great car. Would like to see some photos of it if you have the time. Is it a Medallion or the regular series?

Man am I envious of all that open space! I'd have 500 cars if I had the room haha. And I like your convertibles, both are diamonds in the rough.

I had the Chrysler (LeBaron) version of the Diplomat. I also miss that car and would like to pick one up again some day.
