I'm still around, just too many other vehicles/projects to work on.

Anyway, working on the '69 300 'vert this week. All my lights work...except one, the license plate lamp. I had to carefully remove the 2 brass rivets to split the two halves apart. Lamp is toast. No markings I can see on what type of lamp. Any ideas? I want to keep the original housing, but could mount a elongated lamp in there somehow, not sure on wattage. Too hot would melt the plastics. Thoughts....

I could use an LED like this and mount inside original housing. I have seen the non-LED elongated lamps at Pepboys. I think my old VW van used something like I'm looking for in the dome lights.

That should work.
LED's are polarity specific.
Test it before permanently installing it.

Well, was able to try my new Dremel out today. Gutted the old inside of the OEM plate light holder. Went to a local junk yard and got some dome lights. Gutted those so I could use the brass portion that holds the lamp. Little JB weld to holder brass parts, soldered wires on. Should work. At least from outside looks factory.

You Improvise, adapt, you overcome! Sometimes you gotta think outside the box. If it works good, use it!
