How does your 360? do pulling that 40 foot Jayco that must weigh in at about 5K loaded, Whats your MPG? My 72 Town and Country with the 400 4 barrel gets about 8 MPG with or with out my 3,500 loaded Sun lite 18 footer!
It's only a 28' trailer. But 5K Lbs isn't far off the mark.
the Admiral has a 318 2bbl. Pulls fine but will struggle a little on a long grade. 2nd gear cures that. Mileage was about 8 MPG in 300 miles. Highway mileage without the trailer is around 20/22.
I also tow a 16' vintage trailer that comes in around 3500 Lbs, like yours. Big difference in milage, around 13/14 MPG then.
Our 69 300, (440 4bbl), was about 10 mpg towing a pop up camper.
The fun gained from going down the road in the rig more than balances out the gas mileage.
