Looky what I found,Fury fans!

The thing is, that picture didn’t exist when you made the comment. So how did you refer to something no one had ever saw?
It’s not my car and I’m not trying to sell it. I apologize if I’m out of line but, it seems like anywhere you go someone just has to find the bad in anything someone else has or even mentions. Go ahead, pick it to death. it is what it is, I never said it was the greatest thing to ever straddle the pot.
How about, “Dang, that’s a decently optioned car and it looks to be in good shape for the year. You sure don’t see many old abandoned used car lots with a car like that much”
And what is “normal “ ? I’ve seen much worse that that one, looks pretty typical to me for what it is.
This is the attitude that scares off new comers. That's a damn decent 69. A bunch of people with zero welding skills putting down perfectly savable cars they have no intention of buying.

We can be harsh, not hating though. Dot worry if it seems that way, we will still follow along if it gets saved, no matter what shape.

I’ll update all the details when or if I get a call back, all jokes aside. I’ll probably buy it in behalf of blimp if it’s reasonably priced.

If I was still in the market, this would be HIGH on my list. That interior is exceptionally clean for sitting that long, the 29, although apparently not as well liked as the 23, is actually more rare if you're so inclined. It even has the skirts still on the car, that's crazy that it has been sitting so long. I hope it gets saved.

It’s been on the that lot for at least 16 yrs as I remember. Like I said, that place is a black hole, I’ve never seen a car leave once it’s there.

That's as bad as the guy that says he's going to fix it up.

I'm one of the guys with 0 welding skills, but I try not to beat up something that can be saved by others. I hope to be able to weld someday.

I’ve bought them years ago in worse shape than this. Some rust under the top is to be expected on these cars. If that is the only place that there is rust you’ve got it made! I had a 69 VIP back in my high school years, 383 2bbl, same color, white top. It was in worse shape than this one back then.
The wiring harness caught fire behind the dash one day and that was the end of it for me.

#1 i could see it in this picture which you did post EARLIER

i noticed it because it is kind of an unusual area for bubbling. they usually bubble where the quarter and roof meet and at the lower edge of the rear window.
#2 i am not putting the car down in the least. i like it just as i liked your initial post on it. these cars are a personal favorite. body looks solid and the cornering lights aren't common ,as i stated above.
# 3 if you are looking at the car for someone else this is a potential area of concern that i would hope you would thoroughly examine for your interested party.
#4 you seem to be taking this quite personally for a car that isn't yours and aren't interested in.

I recently acquired a '69 sport fury myself. Haven't got it home yet, it's complete, 383 car, but has seen better days.

Actually, this is where the quarter and roof meet. Up high on the back c pillar.
That’s where they all start rusting.
You’re insinuating I have something to gain by saying this car is better than it is? You don’t know me at all.
Why didn’t you reference the pic you now reference in the first place?
It’s all good though, follow along and we’ll see what happens. I do agree that’s it’s an area if concern. If I get a call back and serious business is at hand I will definitely be taking more than a cursory assessment.

I'd say that a new vinyl roof and fixing what's under it are in order--period. The rh lwr corner looks similar to what my "43" looked like, when the vinyl covering was still on it. When the vinyl was removed, not much metal left. Like anything that's still there would crumple if you ever tried to remove that lower section of the rear window molding. So, my suspicion is that there's more holes hiding under the holes in the vinyl. Which also means the trunk pan "reservoirs" on each side probably have some issues, too.

The mentioned quarter panel/roof joints being "a place" is very accurate. On my DH43N0D, even when it was newer, didn't have smooth sections there. When the vinyl was gone, not even full coverage of lead filler at those joints! On either side. Just part of the game back then, it now appears.

To it's credit, whatever that might mean, it was a pretty nice car before it was parked. It can be, again, too. Nice interior, but what about the instrument panel pad?

A stroker LA could replace the 318, but better check those rust issues first.

Enjoy!

It’s not a show car by no means. But in my humble opinion it’s a rare find.
Is it the holy grail? I guess not. Is it worthy of saving? I think so.
Some guys downtrodd this car like it’s unworthy of attention but, my goodness do they cry when a 4 door sedan small block goes to the derby!

I think the folks at Chrysler preferred putting a vinyl top on one for no other reason than it meant they didn’t have to finish the roof. I don’t think I have seen many that you could tell exactly where the roof/quarter panel met, even on the best examples. These cars were never built to last 50 years and not show signs of aging.
I don’t have a dog in this race, but I have seen the car first hand. I didn’t roll around on the ground or go over it with a microscope. But, I saw no obvious signs of shoddy repairs or severe rust issues that were beyond repair.
How about those quarters? Nobody commented on those. Did you ever see quarters rusted out so bad that you could throw a cat through one side and out the other?

Some of us like skirts on Furys, me included. Nice color combo, nicely optioned and there is nothing wrong with a 318. They have enough torque to be fun to drive IMHO. This will be a really nice project for someone and with the 318, put in a new timing chain and it will run forever.
