Lost trunk key to -71 300, advise wanted

A)
1. Remove back seat
2. Use duct tape to attach a large screwdriver to the side of a broomstick so the blade is sticking out at the end
3. Place blade in the square opening in the rear of the lock, twist counter clockwise and open.

It worked for me, although I had no pillows in the trunk.

B)
Buy a lockpicking set and discover a whole new hobby :p

Perhaps the best idea so far. I will try that tomorrow..

Shove 2x4's between the pillows and twist creating a gap and use extensions and remove the latch or a screwdriver taped to a stick and try and unlock.

If you've got a wire wheel I would run the new non-functioning key on the wire wheel for a little bit. The fella that I have make keys for me does this after every key he makes. It cleans the sharp edges off and lets it work in the lock easier.

Im getting close.... but did i forget to tell about the subwoofer.....

Well... the broomstick is right in the ... trunk.
But i have been pokeing around with that stick now for half an hour without success. Where should i place the screwdriver to be able to unlock the lid . Uhhh so close...

You could also unbolt the latch. You'll need to put a few long extensions on the socket wrench, but I've done it.

Don’t force it at all. Just give gentle pressure in the proper direction (clockwise, I think but I’m not sure) while pushing and pulling it very, very lightly and by only a very tiny amount. The point is to get any of the tumblers that are proper to stay put by using gentle oressure while you coax the others to also get into position. Forcing it does nothing whatsoever.
