Magnum 500's - 14" Tires

I know this subject has been beaten to death but in reviewing all the posts with respect to this subject, it leaves me inconclusive so I will be specific to my situation and leave some of the hair in my head. This situation came up because I currently have stock rims that are bent and impossible to balance and impossible to find new ones without spending and arm and leg at which point I thought I may as well try a different approach.

I have a 65 Sport Fury, Brand new 14" White Wall Coker Tires (less than 1,000 miles - P215/R75), newly installed disc brakes all around and I would like to put on 14" Magnum 500's, 6"X 5 with 4.25" spacing and hopefully, without Beauty Rings. My question is, are there 14" Magnum 500's wheels that would fit my application because of the disc brakes and if so, what would be the ideal set back (3.75 or 4.00"); spacers had to be put in to mount the disc brakes.

I have spoken to some vendors like Vintage, Cragar, etc. and come away as confused as I started. The obvious answer I always receive is "go to a 15' wheel" which I prefer not to do (why get rid of a brand new 5 tire set). Given that, maybe somebody has done what I am trying to do and can give me specific answers and recommendations as to whether this can be accomplished and how? Otherwise, I will keep 14" wheels with the stock hub caps.

You will have to go with a 15" wheel unless you used the SSBC Disk Brake Conversion Kit. This is the only kit that can accommodate 14" wheels.

I agree with rexus31. Normally on a C body, disc brakes meant 15 inch rims.

So this sounds confusing...

If you bought some aftermarket deal that works with 14 inch rims, then you may be in luck. I'd find a Mopar buddy with a couple of Magnums lying around and do a test fit to be sure.

Had it done by a mechanic(s) since I physically could not do it. It took 4 shops, 9 months but it is done and is working with 14", bent, rims.

No, same rims as were on the car. They are old and bent. Had new tires balanced when they went on, after the disc brakes were put in but this isn't about my old rims but rather it is about whether or not there are 14" Magnum 500"s out there that might work.

When I bought my coronet the PO had done a manual disc brake conversion and had the magnum rims installed. They fit fine but I don't know the width of rim and what vehicle he got the disc brakes off of. They are prob a 5.5" or 6" wide rim, when I replaced the tires the widest tire to safely install was a 235 /14. I do plan on one day replacing them with a 15" magnum, you are extremely limited on what sizes you can buy for a 14" rim anymore

Really? Those 14 inch Magnums are available readily in my area...I have a set in my shop waiting to go on my daughter's Volare. I thought that was the case pretty much everywhere.

I would say that if your stock Mopar 14 inchers fit, then it's 98% sure that 14 inch Magnums will too...I say 98% because nothing is for sure.

Wheel Vintiques sell a 14 x 6 Magnum 500 - they show them on their website with a Mustang centre cap, and a video with a Mopar centre cap. I had a set on my Monaco and they fit just fine. I'm now using a 15" set from them that also fit just fine.

Check with them about the centre hub opening to ensure that the opening is large enough, because as some real Ford wheels had the correct bolt pattern, they also had a slightly smaller hub opening, making them not fit properly on a Mopar hub. Most aftermarket Ford wheels fit Mopar cars though. It's worth a call to them.

They also sell 14 x 7 and 14 x 8 and larger - all the way up to 15 x 10.

Most helpful as is Ross Woolridge below. Your wheels look good I would also like to go with the 15" but given that I just spent $1,200 on Coker Classics tires and I am satisfied to go with the 14" rims. My other concern is the Back Spacing. The hubcap spinner, stock 65 Sport Fury, on the rear wheels hit the fender skirts when I hit a dip and I am hoping I can correct this with the back spacing without creating a problem with the disc brakes
