May Day... May Day WTF?

Have you traveled on Skyline Drive in Virginia or the Blue Ridge Parkway during the fall?

I have always taken my vacation in the fall after everyone else is back at work, kids are in school and rates are cheaper. I have done both of those in the early to mid 70s (I really hate thinking about how long ago that was).

No matter where you go, where you are has the worst drivers.

Thats not true, nothing could be further from the truth. Michigan has bad drivers, real bad. No manners whatsoever. Indiana has excellent drivers, perfect etiquette. Ohio drivers suck, they keep left no matter what, which is insane. Delaware drivers are also bad, clueless bad. New York drivers? The State isnt bad as a whole but the New York city drivers will see you are there, wanna get through you, crash into you to get through you and keep going to the next guy.
Jersey drivers are usually excellent, its always good to get away but its better to be home

Many years ago we took vacations to Indiana. Traveled west the weekend before labor day weekend. Didnt know it at the time but the schools out west start up in August, the zoo's, theme parks and beaches were empty, and the weather was still HOT

Are you a Packer fan???

In July we will be traveling the entire length of the Blue Ridge Parkway and Sky Line Drive on our way to Carlisle.
It will be my third time doing that.... First time driving my 64 Dodge Sweptline crew cab and three years ago in the Coronet 500 convertible. I'm looking forward to the trip in Jazebelle.

Sounds like your an Interstate traveler Dave...... Thats where the worst... discourtious..... inatentative and distracted drivers are...... And thats anywhere you go. Folks who drive the Interstates rarely have any concept of "the journey".... only "how fast can we get there".
Maybe learn how to read a map...! A good map and a little trip planning and the journey and quality of drivers greatly improves.... Not to mention your own attitude. You may not be able to run 70 MPH but state and US hwys can sometimes cut miles off your distination.
I use the Interstates only to pass through Urban areas to avoid all the traffic signals..... then back to the secondary roads.
Try it.... discover the road side curiosites that are still out there.

I have been off ghe beaten paths in Ohio,Michigan, Indiana,Delaware, Virginia,Maryland, Tenessee, Pennsylvania,New york, Connecticut and of course New Jersey . I stand by my observations.

I've driven Skyline Drive numerous times. I just love it! I've been on sections of the Blue Ridge Parkway. I've never driven the whole route...yet. That's in the long range plan of stuff I have to do. If you guys didn't know........ I'm a traveler! LOL!

Ed Gein was a murderer and body snatcher in Wisconsin during the 1950's. He made made lamp shades and stuff out of human skin. There was 2 movies named "Ed Gein", one in the 70's and one made in 2000. I like the one from the 70's.

Edward Theodore "Ed" Gein (pron.: /ˈɡn/; August 27, 1906[SUP][1][/SUP] – July 26, 1984) was an American murderer and body snatcher. His crimes, committed around his hometown of Plainfield, Wisconsin, gathered widespread notoriety after authorities discovered Gein had exhumed corpses from local graveyards and fashioned trophies and keepsakes from their bones and skin. Gein confessed to killing two women – tavern owner Mary Hogan on December 8, 1954, and a Plainfield hardware store owner, Bernice Worden on November 16, 1957. Initially found unfit for trial, after confinement in a mental health facility he was tried during 1968 for the murder of Worden and sentenced to life imprisonment, which he spent in amental hospital.
His case influenced the creation of several fictional killers, including Norman Bates of the novel Psycho, Leatherface of the movie The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Jame Gumb of the novel The Silence of the Lambs, and Bloody Face of the TV show American Horror Story: Asylum.
