Mopar police

Awesome photos. How long did you have to wait to get that photo with the bridge up? Did you get any Shrimp and see the photos at the seafood shop? Really cool isn't it how close the church is to the bridge.

Thanks man! Actually we got lucky with the bridge. I had a couple friends with me, and dropped them off at the other side of the bridge to get some pictures of the car and I driving over it.

I turned around to pick them up, and as they were getting in, thats when the bridge went up for a sail boat going through. Quickly turned the car back around, and was lucky enough to get it in the same position as the car was in the movie. Except they jumped it from the other side. We got there pretty early in the morning, so the resturant was not open yet. We made sure to stop back on the way home, and glad we did. Great food! Also some very cool stuff as you mentioned hanging on the walls inside.

Really cool how close the church was to it. The spot where jake throws the ciarette lighter out is right around the corner from the bridge to.

Thanks again man! I've got a ton of movie location shots, but was not sure if you guy's would get into them or not lol

A friend drove this '68 Satellite Adam12 car to a Mopar drag event, and my cousin and I drove it home late that evening and a car pulled up from behind and swiftly blew by us at about 10-15 mph over the speed limit. I told my cousin to throw on the lights, and with a chuckle, he did. The car quickly pulled over onto the shoulder, and we killed the cherries and just drove past him. He followed behind contently for about 10 miles until we approached town in the street lights, then he pulled up beside us and his girlfriend in the passenger's seat looked to be in tears laughing and pointing at her boyfriend. I have no clue how you can pass a car and not notice it is a wee bit out of the ordinary.... Who pulls over for a 40 year old cop car? :shruggy:

lol thats funny! Once in a while I'll get somebody at a gas station telling me they were driving in front of me the day/week before and were sweating bullets thinking I was a cop. Sometimes they get a good laugh out of it, other times people seemed to be pissed. Like you said, who thinks a 40yr old car is in service?

They had a couple adam 12 cars at this show. I love watching the old show to see the cars in the backgrounds

Wonder what model year the oldest active duty squad car is. Maybe 15 years in small communities would be my guess. Some small volunteer fire deptartments in our area still have a few about 40 year old trucks and vans.

Local Police departments ditch there cars around here after about 5 years, and the rural Police after about 8 years old, rural fire departments in area's I frequent still have equipment from the 60's in service, one department has a '63 GMC Cracker Box pumper in active duty.

more pics and stories about the BBs are great.
Heck, the film made me want to have an old retired Police car in original paint and is somehow a little bit responsible me buying the 69 CHP Polara.

Great pictures.....

Thanks for posting them.
I had a 1980 Fury retired Michigan State Police car as a winter beater one year. It was still in the original blue which was a state police color only then. That car just had an attitude about it.... I could get in the left lane on the freeway with headlights on and cars would melt out of the way from in front of me.

Heres a picture of a 60 Plymouth police car thats for sale.... It would fit right in with that gang.
No motor or trans, (a period correct 383 & trans is avaliable).

Mike has a ton of knowledge about everything to do with the entire Bluesmobile movie, cars, locations, etc. I'm going to make sure I plan an extra day this spring on my way to Wisconsin and see the movie sites and try the seafood at the resturant.

Bob if you do go and see some locations, be carefull. Might even consider bringing a friend, or your brother along. The movie was shot in the slums of chicago 30 years ago, and has not got any better over time. We went to the church early in the morning. Figured we would be good, as all the troubled residents would still be in bed. 3 white boys in a car that sticks out like a sore thumb is deff noticable there haha. Within 5 mins of us being there a cop pulled up asking what we were up to. He said that we should be getting out of there. We told him, yes sir we will, just getting a couple more photos. He then left, and circled the block a couple times. A few minutes later as we were still getting pictures, a big chicago mob squad truck pulled up, and blocked the intersection off where the church is. They hung out in the middle of the intersection as we got our pics until we left. Was kinda funny... They were in good spirit about it, and knew what we were doing, but they were not joking around about not wanting us white boy tourist hanging around.

Is this the actual Adam 12 car or just of the same vintage ?

It's just a copy cat car like the one in the show. The show predates me, and I have never seen an episode, so I can't specifically say what year and model that the real car was.

Hell yea carsten! Should get a build thread going on your polara! I'd love to see some pictures of it!! As well as hear the story on it!

Only other part of the trip I was proud of was the mall. Spent a hour or so laying plywood down over the borken glass, and nails to get the car in the mall. This spot looked to be where they blasted out of the mall coming out of JCpennys. After moving stuff around, was able to get the car in! I had a blast doing that!!

Another blumo buddy, and I returned the following year. The mall had a new fence surrounding it, and could only access it by going through the police helipad. Drove threw very quickly, but they had blocked where I had gotten in the year before, so couldnt get in.

I can happily say I have the last bluesmobile to ever be in the dixie square mall. They tore the mall down last year.
