I worked for the Talladega Superspeedway in 2006 when the track was resurfaced for the first time since it was opened in 1969. It was fascinating to Watch the process of paving the 36 degree banks. The paving equipment was tethered to a huge bull dozer at the top of the bank. Dump trucks loaded the material onto conveyers to the paver hopper from the apron, Everything moving in unison.
I have over 200 digital pictures of the process from start to finish on a disc that was giving to me by the project manager.
I've still got a chunk of the original pavement with the pit road commitment line on it.
