Roy Hills Hemi

If you look close you can see the distributor in the typical RB location. She's packing a Petty built & preped Hemi

Reid Whisnant

Here is Reid Whisnant. The last Hemi car to qualify for an NHRA event. It was later sold after Reid switched to a Camaro about 84 or 85. So this was after the 500 inch rule. So no weight penalties. However due to difficult rules & Chrysler money woes the Hemi had fallen behind in development and could barely make the 16 car field by 85. Note the car still has Hemi on the scoup. I don't think it ever qualified for a national event after Reid sold it. Note the black slash through the car # on the windshield in Reid's pic. That's in honor of the fallen Lee Shepard

Along about the time Reid made the switch to GM. Butch Leal was asked why no Hemi cars. He had been hired by the famous Dodge team The Rod Shop. And they had made the switch to GM. Butch replied that he had the best Hemi car out there and still was only about 8th fastest. He went on to say the heads where outdated & needed money to R&D. And that no one wanted to do that. Untill the late 90's when the Hemi 99 was introduced & then updated in 06.

Sorry Bob just venting, i was watching some of my DVRed NHRA events and just getting frustrated that after 2 years on top and now can't even make the 1/4 finals without luck and its GM fest for the next 10 years. I love those omni/ charger cars even when I go to all mopar events and there are a few of those cars running they are fun to watch.

No problem Dave. I just want you to get the correct info as best as I know it. No need to vent. Racing has its ups & downs. I myself made a "water haul" today. As for Roy & AJ. Remember they lost their team car & all that data when Jeggie took a sabatical. Richie Stevens is there with a part time team car. He will contribute. Also when they lost Jeggie they also lost Mark Ingersol. And Jim Yates. 2 of the best chassim men in the business. Also NHRA has a new tire & a new heavier fuel mandated this year. Thats the biggest reason Roy has been down on power not to mention V Gains. There're gaining on it. AJ was 3 numbers off last race. Thats well with in the top 5. Keep the faith.

Dave check this out

Ok this is John Hagens Hemi Arrow. Pro 7 Now look at the hood scoop. It says crew chief Greg Anderson. Thats the same Greg Anderson who drives the Summit Pro Stock cars today. John & Greg where pals. John, Greg, & Warren & Curt Johnson all are from Minnesota & where friends. Sorta (long story) John was tragically killed at a drag strip & Gred saw it & stepped away from the sport for years. CJ (curt) ask him to join their team as a crew chief years later & thus began Gregs GM carrer

Thanks for the info and pictures. I am putting together a 400 for my Challenger so I don't have to pound on my # match 383. With any luck I will have it in the car for Norwalk in Sept.. Will not leave much time for tuning but it will be a fun learning curve.

The Missle

Here in the pits. Check out those up right wheelie bars. Also note the Mike Fons hauler pitted to the left. That's the Rod Shop Dodge Pro Stock team. Also note the Jegs sponsorship on the Missle. Jegs sponsored & fielded a lot of Mopars back in the day

Another great pic

This is a very good pic of the Missle with Don Carlton. One of the coolest Pro Stock cars ever

Butch Leal

The California Flash Duster. Working on it while using the trailer ramps as a lift. Been there done that a few times. Wonder if that's Butch himself lying there. This was a very Fast car.

Ramchargers

Here is the 1970 Dodge Challenger Pro Stock car of the Ramchargers. This car was not around long & was not too sucessfull. Still one of the coolest cars of the era. This car has been discovered & still appears to be in good shape. And is for sale. It has been repainted red/maroon

To avoid any confusion. This is the Ramchargers Hemi Cuda. This was not a Pro Stock car. It was a class car. (Super Stock)
