I keep dryer sheets in everything. Cheap ones from dollar general. They work better than anything I have tried, and smell good to. Just replace them every few months.

Be sure to place a few in the trunk and under the hood.

Also, run a fan blowing under your car. It not only prevents condensation but mice hate the turbulence and will avoid the area.

Toss one of these pissed off assholes in your garage..and you'll never see mice again.

I put my house cat in the garage for a week... 5 kills later...no more mice.

I've used them, just not that brand. Used them in my attic as well. I also have 4 cats so I better not have any mice. lol

I stuff the dryer sheets in the exhaust pipes too, as well as on top of the tires, and in the engine bay (air cleaner snorkels), and the interior.

Just don't forget to remove them from the air cleaner snorkels!

I agree with the dryer sheets solution. Also, if you run your car once a month in the winter the exhaust fumes will act as a deterrent.

i bought some of the Grandpa Gus pouches the problem is they only last for 30 days or so so it gets expensive for long term storage. I have been using the dryer sheets for the past 10 years or so without any problems till last year. I had a bunch of stuff in the drivers side front frame rail from some critter. The problem might have been due to my shoulder surgery i did not drive the car from October till April so whatever it was it went undisturbed for 7 months so they had a comfortable home.

When i put the car away this year in mid September i put twice as many dryer sheets in the car as i normally do because of my 2nd shoulder surgery will not be driving till at least march . I put them in the frame rails and exhaust pipes this time, I always put them all over the engine compartment and under the seats in glove compartment ,in the sunvisors and kick panel vents. I also put a reminder note on the steering wheel to remove from engine compartment and exhaust pipes before driving i added frame rails to that list this year.

So you guys are saying those green pellets in the small packs aren't good or don't work?

The stuff that the storage uses is supposedly eaten by mice and then transport it to offspring. So I was told.

They might work, but it's not instant. The little bastards by me were removing it from the dispensers and stashing all over the garage. Found it in a fertilizer bag, under the lawn mower, and under the driver's floor mat of one of my cars. I had a failed cat-convertor I was saving for scrap...bastards filled it with the pellets too.

Can’t do cats because I have a serious allergy to them. I toss bait blocks around in my pole barn and I use “Fresh Cab” pouches. Probably similar to the Grampa Gus stuff. Last summer when I turned the ac on, the compressor wouldn’t kick in. Found this in a nest under the relay cover. Apparently the little f**er arced itself on the capacitor.

That issue is akin to why I don't like D-CON. They eat the poison then go somewhere to die. I hate finding them someplace like you did. Much better to use the bucket of water method where you can get the whole gang and they can be disposed of before they can run off and hide. My overhead garage door gets left open sometimes during the day where they can get in so I set a few peanut butter traps for the occasional trespasser. Fall seems to be the worst time of year since they are looking for a winter home. I am considering getting a couple more of those plug in critter controllers with the high pitched tone. I bought one of them for my basement since it claimed bugs and rodents can't stand the high pitch. I think it has helped a lot since I no longer see the spiders and box elders down there. They are supposed to be pet friendly but I have not too keen on them either for fear of having one short out and start a fire plus taking up receptacle plugs.

I also don't like poisons. Sorry to go all enviro, but poisons are terrible things. A nasty way to die, and if the creature gets eaten by a predator before it dies, then that creature also dies... plus the poisons can get into the watershed.

Snap traps are the way to go if you must kill them. However, live and let live (just not in my car). Deterrent is the best way - dryer sheets work for me, as do audio screamers (high pitched squealers you plug into the wall).
