Going on two years now and me and my Lincoln are having a failure to communicate. She wants exact, precise, prompts from me or she scolds me by saying she did not understand. *****....

Actually I wasn’t aware the 18’s could do that Bob thanks for the field test. It uses driver resistance on the electric power steering system to judge whether you have hands on or not. The 19’s have lane departure as an option along with adaptive cruise so technically you can set the cruise and go sit in the backseat. Skynet here we come...

I'm learning new stuff on both vehicles every dang day. You have to have an engineering degree or be 10 years old to figure out all the features on new vehicles these days!

I don't think you can order a new Mopar or a RAM without a radio anymore. Maybe Graham knows if radio delete is an option anymore.

My RAM has the heated steering wheel that has leather on the bottom half and real wood on the top half.

My 2017 300C Platinum has the lane departure feature and the adaptive cruise control that speeds up and slows down on its own to maintain a set distance to the car in front of me.

I did a pre-delivery inspection on a new car in 2000 with an early adaptive cruise control system... which disengaged itself (by design) after the braking exceeded a preset limit. They changed the programing to allow it to stop the car in 2002... those early ones I wouldn't want to have on the road near me... after that, a great system... especially since everyone is so distracted by their phones today. I almost got run over in a shopping plaza last week by somebody's grandmother, stupid old bag didn't even know she almost hit the curb or me... her eyes never came up.

Radio is standard however its not the screen you see in the dash anymore. The radio module sits deep in the dash. The screen is a control panel. Had a kid find that out the had way. Took his new Ram home and immediately opened up the dash bezel and removed the “radio” to put an aftermarket POS in its place. The dumbass cut the harness to shreds then complained of a no start problem... we said well you just gave your truck a lobotomy so $1500 please

I see on the Ram forum that people are putting Tesla aftermarket radio's in new Ram's. I just don't see the advantage of those radio's over the factory radio.

Bob, that gave me a WTF, so, of course, I Googled it.

Turns out that they are installing Tesla-style info screens that literally puts an Android tablet on your dash to replace all your controls.

I'm not happy being a passenger, regardless who is driving and I can't remember when, if ever, I rode in the backseat of a car. I need to be in control!

Not really, I was 5 before dad returned from the war and then he had driver. My mother never drove so everything was done on foot. Dad bought his first car in 1956, a Chevy Bel-Aire and I had my first backseat ride on a trip from Vancouver to Ottawa. The trip was a horror show, especially through the mountains. The roads were gravel and guard rails were few and far between. The car had curb feelers and they continually pinged as they hit the gravel, except when passing oncoming traffic. When the noise stopped the car was a few feet from disaster. I vividly remember holding on for dear life and holding my breath while looking out the side windows to nothing but air. Plus we were moving so besides all the luggage that would fit in the car we were 2 adults, 3 kids and a dog. Man that was a long trip!
I suspect that trip is one of the corner stones of my phobia.

So I basically walked or rode my bike until I was old enough to drive. Looking back at nearly 60 years of driving, I've never had an accident and haven't gotten any tickets since 1985. As far as I'm concerned I'll do my own driving and the self driving cars just need to stay out of my way!

This is becoming more and more common. We can do this mod for about $1000 at the Dealership level. Bolts right into the factory harness and operates like an Ipad. But then again with Apple Carplay in our new models much of the same features are available

Except that Steve Jobs is dead and now I have to go talk to someone with the title genius. Talk about making the customer feel small and insignificant, not to mention your stupid question. All the good is going from Apple and their crap breaks too easy.

I think I'll skip the Tesla radio and get a factory performance hood for $1200 that is paint ready. I'm sure I can get it painted for $500. And there is a functional cold air kit that mounts to the hood for $375.

The hands free phone and text functions have voice commands. Haven't figured that out exactly.

You need to give the "right" commands.... like learning another language - or texting. LOL And wait til you try to voice text, it can't interpret my voice for diddly. Makes for some interesting texts.
