My 78 New Yorker

It's been raining so much, finally got a break to take some photos. I just got this a few weeks ago!

400 with a quadrajet, it's pretty base model to be honest, the only real options (aside from standard) are the cornering lights and the telescoping steering wheel I think. Runs so smooth though I love it.

What's broken:
-Windshield wipers
-Trunk release button pops the fuse every time you press it so you only get one chance to use it
-PO says AC was working up until last year, freon is gone
Radio (I can fix I'm just not sure how to take it out)
-lots of old stuff should be replaced but works (dry rot hoses need to be replaced, master cylinder is rusty and scary looking, water pump same story, fuel filter gotta be gross, ignition points thing is probably ugly, engine needs a pressure washing it's covered in oil)

That might be it? I used to have a 1977 Cordoba over 10 years ago, so some of this car looks familiar, but it was was a 360 with a Holley

I believe the radio comes out from the front, after the trim pieces are removed (with screws)?

Should be electronic ignition, so just new spark plugs. NGK Iridiums for durability, considering access issues, but your call on that. Otherwise, their V-Power plugs (which are less expensive with similar combustion dynamics).

Don't forget the rubber fuel lines, from the tank forward. Plus the special "ground-clamp" for the fuel line at the tank sending unit.

Seems like the possible wiper fix is chronicled in some threads in here, from several years ago? Might check the "Search" function?

What a beauty! Sounds like a doable list of projects. I purchased a fairly inexpensive bluetooth speaker with a solar charger on top as my temporary fix for a broken radio. I just toss it up on the dash when driving. 8 years later it is still my temporary fix. :-D

That's actually my problem. I can't really find the screws. I even have the shop manual and it doesn't really explain how it just says remove screws. I'm afraid with this old brittle plastic that I'm going to forget a screw and break something. I'd really like to know where exactly I need to take the screws off to get the front bezel off to get to the radio. On my Cordoba I pulled the radio out and opened it up and replaced the eight track rubber band and it worked great. This radio also needs an eight-track rubber band replaced, but also the tuner only turns right and not left sometimes. I think there might be a rubber band in there that needs to be replaced as well.

But I've been trying to look everywhere all I really see is 2 screws to remove the under steering column cover ?

The radio mounting will be the same as the Cordoba, two small bolts at diagonally-opposite corners of the radio case.

The radio dial needle will be run by a thin plastic wire that should run off of the rh knob's shaft. Do the push buttons work?

Normal for the 8-track drive belts to age with time.

No "How to remove the radio" section in the FSM? If there is a 1974 C-body manual at www.mymopar.com, you might look in the instrument panel exploded view to get some ideas of what comes off together in the way of bezels and trim plates.
