My E86 New Yorker from Ecorse, MI

Congrats on a great score. That is a good looking NYer. Those seats are really comfortable. I had a '72 Fury Gran Coupe with that style bench seat.

Gorgeous car - I love 71 New Yorker coupes. I also love the color which is as you speculated, crystal dawn metallic. Your car must be only 57K miles or those seats would not look that good - great look to them but they didn't hold up so well after about 100K miles on most of the ones I have seen.

I bought a 1971 Chrysler 300 with that color quite a few years ago, and it came from above the treeline stored on a high peak in Colorado, and certainly not in a barn! Mine needs much more work than yours, but it is one of my favorite of my 71 300s because of the color.

Yours has great options on it, much like I would have ordered from the factory. What other car do you have, as your daughter referenced the one she was looking at "looked like your car" - is it a 300 that was referenced in the above post by MarPar? If so, I would really like to see a photo of that one too.

Here is a photo of my 71 300 also in GY5 when it was on the mountain top:

And after I got it home and got it running:

It came from the factory with a green vinyl top. It needs a complete restoration but could also be a decent daily driver, but it seriously needs the paint buffed or repainted. It is one of those colors that looks best in bright sunlight, as in the photo on the mountain.

I share your obvious enthusiasm for the New Yorker you found. It is amazing, like you said, that you can even find such cars anymore. Congratulations!

And I think it is great that you got the help needed to load it from dematt and all the others in the Detroit area that offered to help as well. I know the feeling from the help I received in Canada recently in checking out a car and from Manny and Wyatt recently in the Racine, WI area. Way to go!

Geeze I wish I could have broken away from work to help Tim load it up but I did make a couple of calls for him. Steve while yours is kool I prefer Tim’s color combo in spite of the lack of console.

What a nice car, great backstory, and inspiring display of kindness from people willing to help. I'm very happy and excited for you Tim, it will be memorable to observe in person next summer!

Mar, I didn't know you liked the 300 that much. You've got some really nice cars too. Before stopping over that day, I had the car at the Hines VA car show, and took this shot of the 300.
@saforwardlook Here's the pic of the Imperial at the 2nd Volo meet, and the B body car that's covered in my shop.

What are your plans for wheel covers, as those are not original - I am not sure what they are from? I think a set of road wheels would look great!

Road wheels would definately be an improvement. Whos got a set they're selling?
The wheel covers on it now are 68 thru 74(?) Corvette covers. Yeah...corvette.
Originals were not with the car when I got it, and the fender tag doesn't .
If I find the build sheet, maybe that will tell me what it had originally.

It doesn’t look bad with those wheelcovers until you get close enough to see the center of them.

Put those Corvette covers up on Fleabay....might be able to turn them into a few steak dinners...

For now, I'll leave them on. When I find a nice road wheels set, these will go to the ebay auction.

Good guy shout out to Kevin, a.k.a. elmo153, for responding to my ad in the parts wanted section for 71 fender skirts.
What are the chances of finding another set, 1 year only skirts in the same color, GY5, and including nice trim and the rubber piece that prevents rattling?

Finishing up painting the road wheels tonight, getting them ready for the new shoes. Even with wearing a mask, my heads spinning from being in the home made paint booth. :realcrazy:

Please send us an updated photo with the road wheels and new shoes on it - can't get enough photos of that spectacular automobile. Very happy for you indeed. It is the hands of a perfect owner for the car.
