She just turned 50 last year. Did an "on the edge" kinda movie and won an Oscar for it in 2001. Never quite lived up to career expectations after that, BUT she seems to find steady work.

No, I was just at a total loss as to who it was from looking at the photo. Then it suddenly clicked with me that someone else had already planted the seed.

seems you caught me at one of my tricks from the "where's that car in the brochure photo" threads (now some of those were HARD, but we had fun with em): giving more clues than are first apparent -- sometimes more "hints" are hiding in plain sight and ya just had to "look around" a bit like you did.

Unless you haven't seen ANY morning and evening television the past 30 years, you have good shot at this. She turned 60 this year.
Lots of photos of this lady as a child but honestly she has such a distinctive smile its a dead give-away. But maybe not. Then I found a cheerleader photo and figured .. yep, she had to have been one. Just too darn perky.

The woman spent her whole life in front of a camera. She was one of the most photographed people that ever lived. Passed away in 2011 at age 79. I didn't know until today that she was British .. who knew?

last 2 are Katie Couric and Liz Taylor....and I did not know Liz was British either until recently when a host on TCM mentioned it. The last really big female star to be signed in classic Hollywood.

HS yearbook photo here, but unless you went to HS school with her in Connecticut, I dont think you'd recognize her (she' a blond now). More clues to come if this bogs down.
