I thought that I had it, and got it wrong. Doris Day was too easy of a person and I thought she had passed away (She died in 2019).

Somehow, I thought that you had stated she was still alive.

I had guessed Rosemary Harris.

Back at post 2172, we had Sharon Tate. Doris Day's son, Terry Melcher, was friends with Charles Manson. He previously lived in the house where Tate was murdered. It's said that Manson choose that location because Melcher had turned him down for a recording deal.
Yup. Seems had they not caught the "family", Melcher might have been on Manson's hit list allegedly.

Anyway, the more one learnss about that whole tragedy the more "interesting (i mean in a ugly, tangled web of elationships)" it gets. Horrific, sadisticc, etc. , yes of course. They (the family) were aniimals..

but how it all came to happen in the first place? SMH here.

Obviously (thankfully), that stuff ("Helter Skelter") doesn't happen every day, but there is a seamy underside (not that tabloid crap, but serious investigation results) of the entertainment business that is kinda depressing :(

It is an interesting, though very twisted story with other stars and personalities. I think too many to go into here.

It all makes the P Diddy insanity believable.

New "Old" Game.

Underhand, retro "softball" for anyone paying attention to women in the popular media, mainstream and specialty, in the mid 1970's. And, we did her here years ago. She's popped up again recently in the news.

Couple more games for me and I'm done.:)

Age 77 (yes, seventy-seven) now. Model, Minnesota girlby birth.

Given her age now, if one was 10 years old or younger, your experience with her in her heyday would be purely historical. Recognizing her by face could be difficult as such.

She was SO big in the 70's, we debated a bit when we did her years ago, are we sullying her memory.

Kinda why we (forum members with an opinion) decided early on, afterward, in this thread, to try NOT to disparage/shame these women as to their looks.

Hell, when I am nearly 80, and hope I make it, hope I am in the shape this "girl" still appears to be.

Anyway, she and a US print magazine (still around, tbut kinda in limbo) helped create a world-wide trend (the "supermodel") in fashion/modeling that exists still today.

"Cheesecake" in fashion/mdeling ain't nothing new and way predates this girl.

But, the first of very revealing photos, out in the open on a then, mainstream newsstand (remember those?) publication read by millions at that time, yet still controversial, all swirled around this "girl's" appearance as a cover model.

Nearly 50 years later we are still talking about it. One of those pics (one of many by her at other models that followed) that is truly iconic. Tame by today's standards, but kinda shocking in the late 1970's

Here below, age 17 in high school. Same face sixty years latee, obviously showing her age but still an attractive, senior citizen.

This one is pretty easy I think. Otherwise, zero in on and do the sleuthing on the date/specialty media clues and you will find her. Or, you can comb through this big-a** thread and find her, too. :)

Answer Wednesday, EDT.

Got her.

Just the clues and the photo, I said "I wonder if that's ....." And sure enough it is.

(of course, I'm plenty old enough to remember it all when it happened)

Me too... I owned the magazine ... until I got married a few years later and it was in the bachelor stuff that had to go. Along with these these two from college days. .:)

No, they were evil human beings who made evil choices. When we call such people "animals," we are (unknowingly) dismissing them from their humanity. I won't do that.

We do the same thing when we call someone crazy due to their acts.

figure of speech. i am not dismissing them from anything.

others may, but not me.

nevertheless, we call 'em like we see 'em. we pick any words we think fits.

for me, a topic for a different thread I think. :)
