Peekaboo.jpgPlymouth glow.jpgjust wanted to say hey to everybody... I'm the new owner of a 72 gran fury so I thought id try and get some ideas from all those here willing to lend some info and advice... although Ill try not to go into to much so here's a bit about the car and my situation. It has a 400 w an auto trans 3.23 gears (w suregrip supposibly) if that's what Plymouth still called the limited slip that year and air conditioning hideaway headlights bench seat of course, and a decent body with only a few dings in it also has power steering brakes ect. I bought the car off craigslist and the car wasn't as advertised (54000 mile original car)... long story. I paid what I thought it was worth and found out after I could inspect it that it probably has rolled over 105,000 miles. I drove it less than 300 miles to put it in storage and it developed a rod knock or what sounds like one. I'm deployed overseas so i'll have to wait to tear it apart and see. Heres my question does anybody make an affordable forged piston for the 400 or decent hp rebuild kit that doesn't cost an arm and a leg that will get the compression up? I feel like I've looked everywhere but maybe you all have info or advise or leads on this... I bout the car under the impression that It was a low mile original... so I think the value of the car is shot, im trying to research the value of the car. Does anyone have any idea what it would be worth with a running 400 ect. id say its probably a number 4 car condition wise so i'm deciding on whether to put it back to stock or if the value is lost possible go a modified route... I really don't see that many of them around and I love the body style so I don't want to hurt the value if I can help it but I do have a few other big block parts I can utilize... 400 or 383 along with a couple of forged cranks one of with is from a 413. thank you all.

:welcome:........ Glad you found us.. Lots of help and support for you here.

Sorry your car is not as good as you had hoped but it still sounds like a nice one.... The great thing about C bodys is that a few tasteful mods won't effect value, (if thats an issue), and may even increase value.

How about some pictures.....? We like pictures.

What do you consider an arm and a leg when talking engine rebuilds? I know time is a limitation in military life, so you may consider shipping your core away to an engine builder, to make it to your specs. That way you avoid having the car in pieces for a long period of time. I know a lot of guys that had projects in pieces and then told they were posted...not fun.

Oh yea, another fuselage car....can't have too many here. Sorry about the CL thing.... I wouldn't buy a paper clip off CL. Anyways welcome!

Welcome! Nice car you got there! Best of luck to you getting home safe and getting her fixed up!
