new guy... hello all

Thank You I Don't Think The Aluminum Heads Are In The BuDget Though Id Love That VeRy Doubtful....

fb68: You'll learn I'm the voice of reason here. Nothing wrong with iron heads. Aluminum heads are touted as the greatest thing since sliced bread to get your money only. They're not.

Yeah Id Even Consider A SeT Of Hp Manifolds If I Could Find A Set Of Decent Priced Ones Over A Set Of Headers...And I Think Id Rather Get The Satisfaction Of Blending And Porting My Own Heads Anyway...Over Just Bolting On A Set Of Aftermarket heads

sounds like trying to fit a set of headers under one of these cars is going to be more of a headache than what its worth so maybe its time to start looking for a set of hp manifolds as i'm not putting the smog pump and manifolds back on

yeah im having the machinist setting up the 346 heads with a set of 1.81 valves and have them cc'd I think ill have to get them down to 84ccs to get the compression where ill need it. don't think ill need much more than the 268 lunati cam for a street car so I think ill settle on that one perhaps. im trying not to over cam then engine, and I may go with a hughes grind.

IMHO I would skip the forged pistons and their price tag, stick with hyperutectic pistons put the $200 somewhere else in the engine. Unless your spraying it or going north of 6000 rpm a lot, or a lot more than, and you will be waiting to get there with that cam and no real head work. But it your money and you know what they say about opinions.

Ive Got A Set Of I Beams Ill Look Into A Set Of Hypers I WaS Originally GoinG To Go W Stock Rods...That Kind Of Went Out The Window...

Yeah Cant Find Any So I'll Go With A Set Of Icons W A 12Cc DisH To KeEp The Compressio Down.

I'll check with my machinist on Monday to see what bore ill be able to come up w so i can order pistons. I'll be ordering the howards 224/234 cam and prob have it ground w a 110lsa. I think it'll work better with my 3.23's than the cam that's the next step up. I think ill be sacrificing bottom end torque with the 230/236 duration cam. I'm debating on what rockers to use. I've got it narrowed down to Hughes, dove, the harland sharps mancini sells, or comp cams.

I would just use stamped steel stockers if for some reason you are worried about losing a little ratio use isky or crane max wedge style those alum roller tipped ones are a crutch to fix small geometry problems with high lifts and they will fail on the road somwhere keep one of each in glovebox cause they will fail. This is not a gm or ford with studs and poor valvetrain geometry and need a crutch at .500 of valve lift, oh and did i mention that the alum rockers will fail on the street, do yourself the favor use a ferrous rocker arm

Thanks sounds great i should have pointed out the lift is .518 intake .543 exhaust can stamped rockers handle that much lift? that's why i was considering aftermarke rockers... so ill plan on stock or ferous ones thank you 70bigblock.

I was unsure of the lift handling capability of the stock rockers i don't mind if they're not exactly a 1.5 true ratio. So if they're good to go wouldn't bother me a bit running those. Thanks for the info!

So in that light im considering a crower cam coming in at just over .500 inches of lift the 32243 grind

Have you considered the Mopar "Purple" cams ? There are two of them that are supposed to be correctly engineered for Mopar big blocks. I think the less-aggressive one is very close to the cam originally used in the 440-375HP motor. It is said to have excellent low-end torque and plenty of vacuum for power brakes, etc.

BTW, welcome to FCBO. . .

yup ive looked at a coupe 365 hp cam is too mild for me though im sure it puts out great torque. Its about 100hp shy of what im wanting at the flywheel. If i can hit that no biggie, if not i wont sweat it.I

Thank you for the suggestions i probably won't go to much over that camshaft but i think its still lacking a bit of duration.
