Welcome aboard, I really like that Fury. The color, black top and interior with bench. Pretty close to what I would have checked on the option sheet back in 1970. Thanks for sharing the pictures

Welcome and congrats on the find! All original too, It's rare for a NY car to be in that good condition. If your planning engine mods/replacement an 8 3/4 would be the way to go. However, if your keeping the stock 318 the 8 1/4, when repaired, will do just fine.
You've mentioned every big car show 'CEPT THE MOTHER OF ALL MOPER SHOWZ. Not sure where you call home in N.Y. and I don't really need to know. Where ever you are from Buffalo to The Isle of Long you're within striking distance of Chrysler's at Carlisle the 2nd weekend of July every year. I'll let others here expound on that experience. Wow, welcome to the forum and congratulations to your wife, she really knows how to pick a winner!!
That car is sweet, it's condition is down right perfect. The dash pad is not cracked, the interior is not all dried out and I don't see any rust. Truly amazing survivor. Even the plastic windshield washer bottle looks great, which by the way needs to be treated with extreme care since they are found on eBay for $600.
I would take a good look at the u-joints before doing anything with the rear end. A pinon seal usually just leaks and doesn't make noise until all the diff oil has leaked out. The factory diff gear ratio will be well matched to the 318 auto to give good low end pickup and really good highway gas mileage. Besides with the low mileage I doubt there will be any wear on the gears.
Please do not use Armor All anywhere on the car! Use Aerospace Protectant 303 you won't regret it!!

Congratulations great car, my wife loves my cbody too. Looks like it is in great shape for being off the road for so long.

You should consider changing out the master and wheel cylinders and all three rubber brake hoses. Working or not they are OLD. There are several C body 8.75 axles that will swap out cheaper that repairing yours. Post in the wanted section here, likely will find one not to far from you. Measure pin to pin on the leaf springs, a variable of 3/4" is acceptable. (3/8" per side).
A set of whitewalls and full wheel covers would be a huge improvement also. IMHO

Changing out the brake, vacuum, and fuel hoses was my first order of business too. I was surprised that they were relatively still good, though.
Below is a pic of the 40+ year-old rubber OEM fuel hose transitioning from the frame line to the engine compartment hard line, after removal.

Yes make sure you check your perch width, but also measure the axle width as well....from drum face to drum face. I would want it almost dead on...or withing 1/2" so your tires and rims not look shoved in or out when looking at the car from the front or rear.
I have to disagree with Will on the white walls and wheel covers..
..keep the steelies and dog dish caps and either black side wall or white lettered tires.

Great car! Love the color combo. I agree with Will, at least on the whitewalls - a car like that deserves the dress up/beauty rings. But, it's your car so if you want to 'dress it down' that's your prerogative.
