Hello I'm a new memeber from Saint Paul Mn and my name is Shane. I am so glad I found this website and fellow C body enthusiasts! I have a 1969 Sport Fury Hardtop Coupe that was passed down to me, from my grandfather as a HS graduation gift. I have had the car since 2005 but haven't had much time/money to put into her. By the time I received the car it had no door panels, roof liner, carpet, rear bumper and it had a hole in the passenger floor pan. BUT it ran/ drove and barely stopped. Who needs brakes, right?!? Anyway I thought I'd share a couple of the pictures I have and update along the way.

For about 6 years I searched for parts to no avail... Until august 2011 I found my first parts car and best of all it was in my price range. Cheap. lol. I was more excited than a kid on christmas day but I couldn't let the seller know that, until i bought it. He wanted $400 but I was able to pick it up for $300. He said he would throw in the center console for $300 more but I passed since I already have one. Slowly I've been taking her apart for the day I am able to put mine back together. Without further ado: the parts car...251149_571874214271_6828466_n.jpg260104_571303378231_181915_n.jpg260292_571874129441_1952808_n.jpg260354_571874224251_1475345_n.jpg261471_571874299101_4555426_n.jpg262277_571874284131_7882969_n.jpg262310_571874264171_3953912_n.jpg262639_571874184331_6256911_n.jpg264026_571874144411_6962551_n.jpg264272_571874254191_1732709_n.jpg

Great ride very sinister in black! Good luck with the resto. Welcome to the site and keep updating the photo's.

My black beauty has the 383 4 barrel with the hd 727 transmission. The parts car did not come with a motor or trans. I transported the parts vehicle on a car dolly made in the 70's and boy did she sway all over the place... When I arrived at my destination i got into the trunk only to find that the rear suspension wasn't mounted to a damn thing!!! I'm lucky I made the 60+ mile trip in one piece!

You are lucky, that could have ended badly!
welcome to the site from the Motor City!

I Love the 69 sport fury.. .... welcome to the board.

Your car was originally black ?
More details man. ........

Thanks for all the warm welcomes. The car came out of Utah I believe. It was originally (long before my time) f3 frost green metallic with (h6g) dark green metallic interior. No power options, am radio, seat belts, a/c. It has the solid door window (both cars) but I would really like to locate wing windows someday. But of course there are more pressing matters first. Has anyone done the 70s duster front disc brake conversion?

Welcome aboard. Very nice ride and a promising start to getting it road worthy with that parts car. As far as disc brake conversions for our beloved C's I'll suggest finding a setup out of a 73 Cbody if you looking for used. I'll defer to the others on this board that have actually done the conversion to supply you with the required details. Keep us up to speed with your progress and as Dave said we need more details and pics.

More pictures to come... I'm in the process of re-stuccoing my house. Its been a pain getting materials, but its finally coming together.

Have you fixed the "barely stopping" issue? If not, you might be happy with the drums once working and not need to make the swap.

I have not been able to work on the brakes just yet but you may be right about the drums being sufficient. I don't plan for it to be a daily driver... But unfortunately the mistress is 60 miles north in storage. She will soon be in my garage where I can work as freely as I want. But it is in good company, my grandfather has his 1951? Military M37 protecting her :icon_salut:. I will get more pictures of both, posted when I get back on sunday (maybe sooner, Internet sucks in the sticks). A little background on the M37, Its on a 1969 Dodge Power Wagon chasis and it has an Imperials 440 big block in it. Open long tube headers for now, soon to be stacks behind the cab... This thing is MEAN! He is my inspiration and the reason why I love Mopars and automotive today. I had my bro send a pic of the ID Tag its kinda dark/blurry but ill get a bunch of great photos while I'm up there. IMAG0503.jpg

Hi Scaya and welcome, I really have a soft spot for the early fuselage furies, that will be one sweet ride once you have it together and running good. With regards the disc brake swap out of a 70's Dart, don't do it, they are way too small for such a large car and also wont bolt in either as the upper and lower ball joints in a fury are much larger, stick to finding C-body discs as they are 12in rotors and have BIG pistons in the calipers, plenty of brake power for these big yachts. The only thing will be you wont be able to fit 14in rims on that size rotor and caliper as they don't clear, a minimum 15in rim is required. Cheers and good luck!

Thanks again for the helpful insights. I will stick with the drums unless I find them too soft once done. The only reason I asked about the duster brake upgrade is curiosity and lack of experience with these c bodies. I too have a soft spot for the underdog Plymouth because of styling and the great childhood memories of riding with my grandpa. I look forward to sharing my progress. Have a great weekend all.

Welcome to the site, always happy to see another 69 Sport Fury. Mine was completed just before Thanksgiving last year. Are you putting it back like it came from the factory? I have been collecting parts since 95, nos parts and good used are getting harder to find. The pic is from the Nats just last weekend. My car was born the ugly Spanish gold, white interior and white top. My first car was a 69 Sport Fury that was Scortch Red, black interior and top. Since I already had one in red, I decided to go with Sunfire yellow, white interior and black top. Saw a lot of people taking photos of the car at the Nats. I have only seen two 69 Sport Fury convertibles at Nats since I have been attending the show. Keep us posted on your progress.
