I definately like you fury more and more, and the M37 brings back memories of an ex Pacific Campaign WC51 Radio Dodge weapons carrier i restored many years ago.

Well I said it was going to be a project. I believe the last time the brakes on the old fury were touched was around 1980. Too many years of neglect. I found out its got hp exhaust manifolds and the hd 727, so that's a plus. Surprisingly the trunk pan is in great shape with only minor surface rust, so looks like ill only need a front passenger side floor pan and a bunch of sandblasting. Ordering all new brakes for the rears including parking brake cables. It felt great to finally start work. :eek:ccasion14: I actually haven't had the pleasure of driving her much yet besides to the gas station a mile out (in 2005). Since then someone stole my brand new eldebrock right off the manifold (was never started on it)... Isn't life sweet. I picked up a used holley 4180 at the mopars in the park this year, only to find its missing a bunch of parts and probably not worth the effort. I've sourced a Holley 3130-2 750/780 cfm, anyone have any experience with this one?

Check out these stats that I found in a 1969 Hot Rod magazine. In it, Direct Connection engineers upgrade a stock 383 engine to show how potent the 383 could be with simple bolt-on items that you could buy from the parts department of any Mopar dealer in the late sixties. This is a performance package known as “Package Stock” used on a stock 383 Road Runner; notice the Mopar part numbers:

1) Chrysler “284” hydraulic camshaft and matching lifter kit #3412004
2) Holley 780 CFM 3310-1 4-barrel carburetor #2836172
3) Edelbrock DP4B Dual Plane aluminum intake #2836149
4) Hooker Headers
5) Casler 7” cheater slicks

Then the late great Ronnie Sox ran the 69 383 Road Runner with the “Package Stock” performance upgrades through the quarter mile with the best time of- 13.60 @ 105.5, Which is pretty good considering that Ronnie also ran a stock 69 440 GTX through the quarter with the best time of 13.89 @ 102.32. Sure the 440 was bone stock, but it does go to show that a well tuned underdog 383 can hold its own against it’s big brothers.

Found that on another mopar forum... Of course I'm not planning on racing the car but I do like the sounds of a big block at wot.

I drove a 1970 Plymouth Fury sedan in Australia for like 12 years and i had so many memories in that thing it certainly leaves a lasting impression, Im sure your car will do the same once you have her back on the road, I do plan on getting myself a 1970 Sport Fury coupe here in the states in the near future, i am concentrating on finishing the 68 RT charger i have and have made the decision to sell her once she is done, i prefer the idea of having a cbody.

I absolutely love the looks of the 70 Sport Fury Gt. But why sell the 68 Charger? That is one sweet car.

Well i have another without a fendertag in storage so i can build that one the way i like, so the green on green on green RT can go.

I did some trawling and found this quote,
" I happen to have a NOS KarKit emmissions kit that I picked up with a batch ofFord Cortina parts. It comes with exactly 4 parts. 2 universal fit tapered
vacuum caps, a booklet singing its praises and generally suggesting where the
caps go and a sticker to go on the speedo to tell you to keep your foot out of
it.

All it does is block off the line to the distributor (thereby destroying what
driveability there may have been.

A neat relic, but one that belongs along with other quackery and snake oils."

That's a emission "fix" when I was in navy in the 80s Ca. used to do this as part of smog check. Disable vacuum advance to reduce tailpipe emissions, BUTTT decreased gas milage diluted oil thining it and wearing rings all causing more emissions per pound of gasoline, another kneejerk reaction from emission Nazi's that in realality increases emissions by burning more fuel and oil.

That's a cool fury big block, hp manifolds, there are a lot of c body disc brake parts out there everything up to 73 fits don't use smaller car disc setups the spindle too short and too small the drum brakes are powerful just a little grabby and pulls a bit, go to gym lift weights no problem lol good luck.

Is there supposed to be a circlip or something to hold that linkage in? I'd hate to be cruisin down the road and have that pop off again.

I'm looking at the side of your 727 right?

Not sure how helpful this photo is, I can take a better picture of how mine is attached, not sure if there's a difference in the kickdown and throttle on the BB cars versus the SB cars, I'll look in the Service manual aswell.

Nick

Yes Skaye there should be at least a split pin through the bottom of the kickdown arm coming down from the top of the motor, if you look closely you will see a hole through the side of the shaft at the bottom.

Thanks for the photo Nick. Do you have a sway bar on the fury III? I just noticed mine does and if its a sport fury option I may have an extra one for ya (gotta check). My grandfather has always praised how this sport fury handled for a boat. I however, have not had the chance to decide for myself. You have a great lookin motor and trans. I'm not trying to push my parts on ya, just trying to help a c-body brotha out. Thanks for the info wollfen, I'll check it out.
