1971 Dodge Polara Chicago Police Cruiser - $15,000 - Fremont, Nebraska

FB Description
I am looking to trade more than selling this restored 1971 Dodge Polara Chicago Police car. It was restored as an exact copy of an actual cruiser, photographed in 1971. Two retired Chicago area officers found all the original equipment, made it functional, and I bought it from them and had it shipped here. It has the as equipped 360 V8, 2 barrel engine, with newer dual exhaust I had installed. All of the lights and siren work, but obviously, the police radio is just for looks. The car will come with all of the correct Chicago police items, and even a uniform and cap. Let me know what you have, that is OLD, in as super nice, show car condition like this car, and not a motorcycle, boat, etc. I am just bored and looking for something different. If you want to buy it outright, I am asking $15,000.

Somebody in the Police Car Owners Association might like something like that. NOT a Crown Victoria!

Too bad it the wrong year, he could probably get his asking if he smashed it up and sold it as a Bluesmobile Chase car.

Like it or not A lot of work and money went in to that car. At $15,000 he has to be losing money.

Nice car! So what if it's not a "real" cop car. It's done incredibly well, judging from the pics. Hard to get top quality paint jobs for anything less than $10K these days.

hands down ...….the best "police car tribute" I have seen to date, definitely deserving of only the finest of new owner ..… market this car carefully, and you'll find it....... consider Hemming's or some other publications, not cheap, but probably the best way to find that finest of new owners...

Does anyone know if the 360/2BBL is correct for Chicago cruiser? Just curious. It is a very nice looking restoration.

I found an article by the Daily Herald from 2012 about this car (originally a west coast car - used as a daily in Vegas), I only got to read for about 30 secs before the site told me to get a subscription...but it was built by an officer who wanted a piece of history back, and he spent a lot of effort to even make the tiniest stuff legit.

also found the VIN- DE41K1D264767 on a different listing.

Probably not. I think most city patrol cars of that era were 318's.

Jeff

That was my thinking as well, the local city cars that we worked on in this area were also 318's, most of them were Coronets. You could get a 360 2BBL but I don't remember seeing very many of them. The bigger Fury and Polara cruisers were more set up for freeway use and usually had 383 or 440 engines.

I am surprised to see Brian sell it. Maybe the next owner will restore back to how Henry Kissenger owned it....or how Delmae looks!
