Just wondering what some people might have told you guys, I had a guy while I was at work comment on the photo of my car on my tool box, first thing out of his mouth, so are you scrapping that? at this point I felt like saying I don't know are you scrapping this Civic I'm doing a tune-up on? when I mentioned that I'm currently restoring it, he replied with, wow you must get paid well that looks like it would be about $50,000 to restore, at which point I informed him that I actually have $170 into the car and 2 of everything, plus A welder (yes I account it as an expense of the car), also included in the $170 the car has cost me is $256 in Brake parts that leave me with a complete brand new brake system minus the front drums I'm having trouble locating.

So what un-educated numbers have you heard/ seen thrown around that made you think WTF is this guy on?

Don't ever waste your time or breath to try to explain anything to someone that starts off insulting your car, or your project. They just exposed themselves as a douchebag and a moron, so work with that as a standpoint. Just pointing out that they are driving a Civic is a huge insult on it's own.

Even in your cars deteriorated state it is still a desirable car to people in the car field and at a daily driver or better state, it is desirable to a large group and will do nothing but appreciate in value over time. A Civic will do nothing but go down in value until it is seven years old and isn't worth it's tiny amount of weight in iron.

I tend to stereotype people in general that build up the little rice grinder front wheel drive cars, and not in a positive way, mostly due to their general arrogance, and ignorance. I could care less even if they are somewhat quick in the small window of time before they blow up, as they are driving a car that was built cheaply as a throw away car. They are a kid's school car, and the kids that don't have the good sense or taste to buy a real car when they grow up are the morons that build these cars up like they are desirable to everyone, when in reality they are the bottom of the barrel in the real car world. Barrett Jackson is an example that will reveal what cars rule in the desirability world, and front wheel drive tuna cans certainly are not making a showing in this field.

As in any case, I reserve the fact that there will be good and decent people in this field that just like the little handy vac type cars, but the idiot that you encountered will unfortunately be the norm.

I gotta say, i've been following your build, and i applaud you. And in the end it really does'nt matter what anyone thinks besides you. I think it's very cool that you've decided to save and resurrect your Fury, as i'm trying to do the same with mine. We are in the same boat, as neither of us started with the "perfect car"... But, if you are willing to put the effort into it, you will end up with YOUR perfect car! You are doing a great job so far! And it's a great feeling to know that you are saving a great car from a sad fate. So, in the end, "numbers" don't matter. Aside from the number "one", as in "one more cool ride back on the street and spared from rotting away!"

I only get one of two comments:
1) Hey, nice Lincoln, or...
2) Has that got the 440 Hemi™ in it?

I appreciate the kind words, I do like the car or clearly I wouldn't be putting the amount of love I am into the old Beasty.

#1 I've had similar, once again customers commenting on the photo on my tool box at work.

I've had ;

Is that a Cadillac, Dodge, Buick, Pontiac, Ford, and Mercury so far.

That pretty bold sh*t talking while you're working on his car!

I've since put an engine in his car....................he ignored my warning of a Timing belt being required, zero Clearance engine + thrown timing = smiles in the tops of the pistons and bent valves.
