Odometer WORKS! Kinda......(First Car)

So I got it to work only if I hold this piece? It doesn't grab other wise. Could there be a reason? Fix?

The gear is probably worn out. You should be able to get this fixed at a quality speedo shop. Alternative would be to find a junkyard unit and swap parts.

Well if I remove the trip the odometer works pretty much without issue.
