You HAVE to show a 30 min. break which would be in reality, pulling over, take a leak, grab a cup of coffee, and sit in your cab for 20 more min. twiddling with yourself.
Doing the same thing while waiting two hours to get unloaded doesn't count.

Anytime you can show you are not doing any truck duties I mark as off duty wtf its not rocket science its a stinking log book. Problem showed up when these big companies switched to electronic logs then their stupid drivers could not figure out how to but a break in because they would stop at a rest area for less than a.1/2,hr more on duty not driving time. Then they started getting tickets for running 10 hours straight without a break even though they had 2-3 piss breaks or whatever. So the big companies complained about spending big bucks on electronic logs that would keep tickets away and ended up with more then complained that they were at a disadvantage over paper logs, so now we are all required to mark it down. This is why the ATA isn't worth a damn, they should rename themselves using the first letter of all the big trucking companies.

"THEY SUCK" I spend more time with updates, glitches, and rebooting, not to mention the mandatory 30 min break and printer problems. Paper log and manual tickets are soooo much easier. We used to be exempt from the 30 min rule, well no longer. The way of the modern world, They track anything and everything you do in the truck, from stops, shifting, GPS speed, PTO engagement, sudden stops, regardless of real world situations.

Don't have the pension thing going, but plenty of cameras at the LAKs where we dump. Yes, you will stand at the controls at all times while offloading. I don't care if it is -50 outside with 40 mph winds. We work the breaks in during load time, but not off loading, provided you remember. No gun to the head here either. Used to look forward to showing up, now, not as much. Just another hour and the windshield is done...
