OK you truckers...

In all my yearz out there I only bought one new truck.(My BD gift to me) A '76 K-100 sleeper with a 13 over. For about THREE yearz (I think) the 13 spd came with a 3way splitter on the knob az opposed to a 2 way and a plunger. Loved that transmission but I waz told that the attrition on them waz way too high because newbiez kept forgetting which set they were in and making too many claims on the manufacturer. Go figure lol. HAPPY TURKEY DAY TO ALL YOU BIG RIGGERZ OUT THERE AND ALL THE CAR-BUDZ ON FCBO TOO, Jer

Neat. I remember at the local KW dealership, a new 1976 K100 Aerodyne. White with the red & blue pin striping in a Bicentennial edition. I think that might have been the first year for it.

A 13 speed or 18 speed has two air switches to shift the hi-lo range and the overdrive splitter. Two of those sticks are are just to run those shift valves.
My girlfriend's son showed me how to run through the gears with the spiltters, went through it like I drove a truck before, musta had that "huh?" look on my face so he explained it a little slower. Made sense to me, I had just never seen the inside of a semi since I was 8 in a Mack RS600R with my uncle, that made my summer. And I found out I was a lousy passenger, always blocking his view of the mirror!

I think that turbo whine could get old real fast.
Blasphemy.
That truck is too new. Kevin (two stick) nailed that.
The extra shifter for high/low range is okay then just a plunger for the OD splitter, looks old, feels old, less work.
@BIGBARNEYCARS
Those 3 way shift knobs on a 13 speed are the best, can be hard on the back half if you not conscious of your speed slowing down.
Happy turkey day

The 3 position button was on the lighter rated transmission. RTO913 and then the new and improved RTO9513. Rated at 900 ft/lbs of torque.

The one with the plunger on the stick and the DIR/OD button in the knob was the "big" 1250 ft/lb rated RTO12513. It was behind the big for the time engines 400 HP and up. 3406 and 3408 Cats, NTC Big Cam and KT Cummins and 8V92TA Detroits.

Friend Stan. Ah company I gave 16 yearz to in the '80s + '90s bought 2 freight shakers when we started pulling doublez 'bout '83 that had 350 little cam come-aparts for power and 13 spd. UNDER DRIVEZ ?. I got bumped out of my assigned truck one time (that all had 9 spds. in 'um) and I told my boss that afternoon if they EVER put me in either one of those POS again I'd walk away and I meant it. (He never tested me) Shift pattern waz the same "H" az the 13 over but the splits were reversed??? Try that after you've lived in a real truck for over 4 years with ah 13 over, Jer

This is how bad it's gotten out there.
Co. hired a driver. On his first day, after being given his load and the keys to the tractor, he returned to dispatch and said he couldn't drive the tractor because he didn't know how operate this RoadRanger:

He said he only knew how to operate this RoadRanger:

:BangHead::BangHead::BangHead:

FWIW, my contacts still there tell me that only Automatics are coming in now.
And new hires had to be sent home when they were assigned an older manual.
I'm glad I'm outta there.

I can't drive either of those the stickers are confusing. It is hard to jump from my big truck (lower picture) to my Charger.

So he could move the handle thru 10 gears but couldn't manage 5???

I guess he would have been stymied with a straight truck with a 5 and 2 speed diff which is what myself and most others my vintage started on.

That Super 10 is the same idea.

It looks cool! Why else.

In a cabover it really does not help ride, your sitting on the front axle. It will help with shudder from a really short wheelbase
In the end it just looks cool and stands out.
