Our first snow of the season

I feel your guys pain, I really do. This one is missing us but there's something brewing for next week and if it doesn't turn into rain, it sounds like it'll be a ton of heavy wet snow.

I win!!!!
Talk to me in July....
I don't care how big your fans are.

Wouldn't have stopped me from going to work and putting in a 12 hr. day.
What you are looking at is no big deal.
We called it just another "Just another shitty day. Why do I do this?" day........
Repeat tomorrow.
Yah gotta think MEMORIAL DAY.
You're past the crises.
Dave uses Carlisle. Try that one.

Right. well pretty much nothing open and they're telling people to stay home if its not absolutely necessary to go anywhere....and it isn't.

So here's how my day started first thing this morning:

What happened to the snow shovel in your country ? No one over here owns one of these motorized items in my area. Just good old elbow grease :)

Shovels are for suckers. It'd be like cutting your grass with a scissors.

I don't have one thing against a little hard work, but trying to pick up the snow here today...it feels like a ton. The snow blower chews it up and spits it out quite nicely...it's even self propelled...and in backwards too. If it served cold ice tea drinks it would be perfect.

Those are some dangerous conditions right there. Power outage just waiting to happen.

wOW, really Wil?? Are you BS'ing us?

NOOooooooooo..... I wouldn't BS about a thing like this. It fell in about 4 hours last night. I took the picture off my front porch this morning. These folks have NO means of dealing with it. It's the most snow i've see here in the past 5 years combined. 4" on my deck. The good thing is it is 55 degrees now and melting fast.

Those are some dangerous conditions right there. Power outage just waiting to happen.

We did lose power at about 10:30 last night but it came back at 3:15 this morning.

This pic is from the same spot, 5 hours later.

The snow we get here is very wet and heavy. Perfect for snowballs, but bad for shoveling. I've heard it referred to as "Heart attack snow". Before snow blowers became more popular and cheaper to buy, it wasn't unusual to hear of guys dropping dead in their driveways from heart attacks.... You combine some very strenuous activity (shoveling) in cold weather (labored breathing, constricted blood vessels), a 100 foot driveway with the end filled in by the plow and a middle aged man.... well you might as well call the ambulance ahead of time.

Philly is at 60 inches for the year. While that may not sound like a lot to the mid west Canadian guy or the Buffalo guy, its a lot of friggin snow. I shoveled my snow until three years ago, when I bought a snow blower. Four and five years ago we had some huge storms, I am not as young as I used to be and my back just cant take it.

I was at work today.....only 9 hours but me and the truck went in.

four winters ago ..............................................................despite all the snow this year, 12 storms, it isnt as bad as 09' and 10'

We've had more snow in Columbus than I can remember in the 15 years that I've lived here. Mike can chime in but I know that the local news called it a once-per-twenty-year type winter.

I have customers and friends who plow snow for commercial customers. They are killing it right now.
