There is also some terrible stuff happening in the ghetto part of Milwaukee for the past 50 years. This building is on 5th st and North Ave. Just before you get on I-43. Its 2 blocks away from N 3rd St. (Martin Luther King Drive). Its kind of hard to see but most of the rest of the block has been bull dozed down. Unfortunately this happens all over the ghetto. When I was a kid, this was a well to do area......no ghetto, no crime. Now Iraq or Afghanistan is safer this neighborhood. There are many more buildings and homes just like this all over the north side still standing. Hopefully someday they will be renovated.

BTW, I can remember this place was a bar in the 60's and 70's. Too many shootings, murders, and drug dealing closed this place down.

It surprises me how much of the past still remains in that city. Some very unique buildings, for sure.

Near me is Pasadena, CA and it has some very old houses with plenty of nostalgia and interesting architecture, but rare and interesting old enerprise related buildings are virtually all gone.

You can still drive all over the ghetto (north side) of Milwaukee and find hundreds if not thousands of these old Victorian beauties still standing. Maybe a third of them have been saved and renovated, another third where someone tried to save them and just gave up, and the other third pretty much destroyed and decaying for 50 or more years that could be saved. Just like the major project cars here. They all can be saved....just depends on how deep your pockets are.

BTW, the city of Milwaukee has been really, really putting an effort to save these Victorian buildings and houses for the last 20 or 30 years. Selling the houses for a dollar if you restore the house and live in it for 5 years. Milwaukee has in the last 10 years really went after the big Victorian commercial buildings and warehouses and converted them into high end condo's, office buildings, and even low cost housing to give back to the citizens of Milwaukee.

Everyone here pretty much knows that I've been in the Army for 20 years and I'm a moderate conservative. Hard core conservative when it comes to the military and moderate on the rest of the stuff.

Anyways, I heard on the news that Democratic National Convention is going to be held in Milwaukee in 2020. The Dems lost Wisconsin in 2016 and they think they can retake Wisconsin and the midwest. I just hope everyone can behave during the convention and not get stupid and tear the city up.

I can get the root beer here, but do they sell their beer out if state? Or are they like New Glarus, and keep it in state only? I just looked at their website, and I want to try some (over half) of their brews!

Yes, these are the distributors in Minnesota. Check their website for others.

Only if Wisconsin has Palm Trees and I'm not talking about the ones sitting in the lobby at Sum Ding Wong Restaurant.

Don't forget Menards building product stores. They have Sprechers soda (all varieties) there and when on sale for about $3 a four pack.
