They've destroyed most, if not all, of the old mansions around Lake Minnetonka, the big lake (bays really) just west of Minneapolis. There might be one or two boat houses left on the entire lakeshore.

I though the MN DNR had a lot to do with that. They banned the building of boat houses some time in the 70's. I remember going to my great grandmas cabin on lake vermilion as a kid and seeing the boathouses. But there too, more and more are disappearing.

They probably did, but the people who bought the old houses to make McMansions, usually tore down any structure that was an eyesore, and boathouses went away pretty fast.
Wisconsin has a preservation commission and every structure has to get a permit of demolition before they tear anything down. Most of the time they have a hard time getting a demo permit unless the structure is unsafe and can't be saved. This guy in particular somehow has some muscle to tear down a perfectly looking structure almost 100 years old. I don't understand it. He has already started the demo in the interior.

Yep. There's a lot of people not happy. He started destruction on the interior already.

Beautiful bridge that is 110 years old in a beautiful park designed by Frederick Law Olmstead on the shore of Lake Michigan is going to be repaired!!!
Frederick Law Olmstead designed Central Park in NYC, designed the White City in Chicago for the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition, designed the entire park system in Milwaukee and many other things.

This Schiltz tied tavern (1890) is literally one block from my parents house. I use to go there in the 1970's when it was called Zac's on North.
