The oldest and last of its type 2 lane alley in the country-maybe the world is in St. Charles, MO at the Corner Bar.
Last of its type? Its not your typical 10 pin bowling. They use only three pins on a lane set at the 1, 7 and 10 pins. The lanes are about 2/3 the size of normal lanes and the ball is about 4 lbs and the size of a bocce ball but with no holes. High school kids are the letters.
This type of bowling is named Cocked Hat bowling for the way bowlers cocked their hats.
Its been in operation since 1875.
To get to the lanes you go in the back door and then through a trap door to the basement.
The place is quite busy.
The building was originally a military academy.
