I was just wondering what you guys use or dub as the "best". I found this stuff years ago and it's been saving my *** since. There's a few different kinds, the one in using now is aero kroill. I've had a lot of success with sili krill also! It's the "best" I've found. Unfortunately not readily available at your local parts store . I found a a nut and bolt place that sells it.bits made by Kano Laboratories .

Supposedly a 50-50 mix of ATF and acetone works better than any store bought brands. Never tested the theory myself though. I do prefer PB Blaster over WD 40.

That's interesting!! I've used trans fluid to free up rusted piston rings before. I'd say plausible! That kroil is 10 fold what wd and pb are. Not kidding when I say "miracle worker"!!

I used to use that stuff back in the late 70's, works great but is tough to find anymore.

It used to come in a metal/tin can with a screw off top. the tops were redeemable for good stuff.....(probably needed several thousand to get a flashlight, or something). I still have a few of the caps in my tool box.

ATF and acetone is absolutely the best way to free up frozen fasteners and such. It's far moer effective than WD40 and the rest of the commercially-available products.

I paid $13 for a 10oz can at the bolt place and $18 for a 16oz at the gun show. If you sign up for their mailing list you'll get a lot of buy one get one coupons from them. Working on small sending unit nuts(8mm) makes the studs in the gas tank ...uhm very small. Ever since I started using it they have been coming off pleasantly! IMHO it is well worth the price!!

Guys, try the 50/50 ATF & acetone mix - you'll never go back to any of the commercially-available penetrants. I have WD40 and PB Blaster on the shelf - the cans are on my shelf, and probably will be forever.

I tried acetone, and trans fluid a few weeks ago after hearing about it here. I mixed it 50/50. I soaked several bolts that were self tapping they've been installed for 18 years. It took them out and the threads look like new. I've been using Pb blaster for years, and still feel it has a purpose in everyday uses. The trans fluid and acetone mix should remove stubborn stuff.

I'm gonna try the atf+acetone next time I can. The kroil has saved my butt where soaking or the ole blue wrench were not possible. They claim it will creep into a gap as small as 1millionth of an inch. I've been using it for 10 yrs or so and will continue...

Been using that mix since 2006. Always have a pint jar made up on the garage shelves. Keep it tightly sealed since acetone evaporates quickly.

Fluid film...great stuff. I use it in my cooler at work, stays liquid down to 20*.

Ive used it around the garage as well. works better than PB or WD IMHO.

I am going to try the 50/50 acetone ATF mix next time I have a really stubborn bolt.

50/50 Acetone/ trans fluid has freed up frozen rings in a 1935 engine a friend had, got it running again as well, no rebuild!
