Yankee Gas station, Hartford, CT 1925 Note Stewart Warner products sign on building.

The streaks on the bank are from dumping used motor oil into the Park river.

Some other shots. Wider angle and then farther down the river.

In looking for more on this, I found a similar pic from the flood in 1936.

Many of those buildings have been torn down and because of the flooding issues along that river with about a 4 mile stretch of it now covered over and still flows below it. I believe that arch bridge in the bottom pic is Main st in Hartford and there is a connecting road from that area to Interstate 91 about a 1/2 mile beyond.

Testing for proper windshield fit on these GMC trucks.

Note the wood block floor.

The Stetler's dealer is most likely from York, PA (my hometown). Assuming it is the same dealer I'm thinking of, the location moved to the suburbs so-to-speak back in the 90's I believe, but the original building (and facade) still exists and is currently "Byrnes Health Education Center" in York City (google photo from 2019). Also, the owner is no longer the Stetler family as of about 20 years ago but the name is still Stetler Dodge.

A fascinating building and history.

Once the biggest automobile showroom, service and repair facility in the United Kingdom, built by one of the corporate icons in Britain of the 20th century. The Rootes Company

They built the art-deco masterpiece in 1938. Exterior/facade largely unchanged, while interior has been "modernized" (1970's drywall and drop celings)

Reinforced concrete, over 200K sq, ft, (excluding roof parking deck), and three floors, it will become a mixed use commercial/residential facility. Its last use was a Peugeot car dealer until 2019, and is still there and being redeveloped (30M pounds, or ~40M USD).

Address is 13 Mill Street, Maidstone, UK.

If you wanna nerd out, this 30 min video is after Peugeot abandoned it a few years ago, and before the renovation started.
