From what I see, you have the power brake pedal set. Power brake pedal set did not require the leverage amplification that manual brake pedals did, so to make them more "tractable" with a booster, they put the pivot much higher up than with a manual set, which has the pivot much nearer the pedal push rod. In the picture below, the manual set is on the left, and the power set is on the right. While they happen to be sets for manual trans application, the logic regarding the brake pedals is the same.
