O.K. All you PSP Guruz Herez my prefaced question. I have 3-4 PSPz floating around in my stash and I have no clue how to tell the difference 'tween Saginaw, TRW, and Federal. My local Carquest shipped my original pump off several yearz for a rebuild and all waz well. However, on the return trip from Carlisle ah while back The whole A$$ end of the Batwagon wound up with a fine oil mist on it. It ain't the trans or cooling linez, not the oil pan either. The pulley shaft has a slight oil film around it and the reservoir waz ah tad low so AH-HA, me thinkest culprate found. To the question: How do I pick out a Sagenaw pump IF THERE IZ ONE IN THE STASH? Jer(I'm not worried 'bout line fitting differences, Got ah guy in Ann Arbor that'll make me anything I want)

Here's pics of the federal, and the Saginaw. I don't have any pics of the Thompson.

Best way I can describe is Saginaw has a tall neck that is kinda oval and return line loops in from side to back pressure fitting sticks straight out the back, bolts onto bracket from front behind pulley. Federal has pressure and return on side and bolts from side, Thompson almost same but pulley non removable

I've found that most 440's used the Federal pump.... High pressure hose connects to the top front..... and to the lower rear on a saginaw.

heres a quick pics showing the difference between TRW and Federal. The saginaw has a taller filler neck which is oval shaped and no indentations on the backside like the others.IMG_1323.jpg

I can help you ID them Jer. BTW, the early Saginaw uses the same pressure hose fitting as the Federal and TRW. The later Saginaw uses an o-ring.

Thankz to all you guyz. What ah great group. Now I decide if I want that long neck Saganaw pump stickin' up in there! Yah, WTH. It ain't like it'z ah stock 100 point restoration! Jer

Smart choice. I like the FF guys but I know the advice offered was a bit bogus. The saginaw pump is a better pump all the way around and you can adjust the pressure in it so that you don't get that over boosted PS that our cars are known for. That is if you so wish.

I load out of Irvin works all the time. Look for this wave, shoot me the finger whatever pulling just a regular flat bed.

It appears that Peterbilt hasnt gone to the jellybean style
Oh, they have.
Just that O/O's refuse to buy them. Traditionalists. Fleets paying below minimum wage buy the aeros.

Kenworth, but the same thing..
