progress has been slow,but...

That's interesting. I'm using silica sand in my media blaster and for "hard cases" I also have copper slag.

Baking soda is new to me and it's cheap... Maybe I will try that on "sensitive" parts.

I just saw this.

You DO NOT want to use silica sand for sand blasting. It is very bad for your lungs and can cause silicosis, a killer lung disease that has no cure.

I googled about it and this sounds bad... Oo Thank you for this information! I will change to Korund I think.

well, i did battle today with the dreaded convertible quarter window motor. its like a chinese puzzle. would have been easier if the window motor quit while it was up. lost a little blood but still have all my fingers. need to replace the plastic gear in the drivers window next. a lot easier with the interior out. nos ammeter and rebuilt dash dimmer should be in the mailbox tomorrow so i can finish putting the dash together.

I feel your pain buddy. A large supply of brain cells and hand blood was expended fixing all the window motors in jazebelle.

I still can't do them myself. I have to call in my buddy Lance the Destroyer to "help" me. (Read: Umm,, Lance, install this for me, please?).

after some connection issues, replacing the ammeter and fighting for two days with the hazzard switch,i got the dash back together only to find the temp gauge quit working :frustrated:. can't say enough about devin duke. he did a great job on the dash dimmer. works like new. in the end it was nice to see the blue glow of the dash lights. imagejpeg_2 (65).JPGimagejpeg_2 (66).JPGimagejpeg_2 (64).JPGimagejpeg_2 (63).JPG

I had him do the one in my Imp and was just as pleased.

after surviving the coldest winter on record and getting all the spring projects caught up, it's time to tackle the next project. trunk floor. i'm going to try the c2c route because 1. i'm cheap, and 2. it looks like a good challenge. so far i have taken out the gas tank. i'm thinking i might need a new tank and sending unit

Aaarrgh ! That trunk is looking pretty far gone. . . Almost as bad as Nick's convertible.

Well the sending unit looks like it might be hooped. ;) And that will be a lot of work on the trunk...but good on ya for all the work you've done so far!

What are you using for sheet metal donor for the trunk?

i'm going to try the c2c reproduction pan. it won't be 100% correct but i think most of the areas that won't be will be hidden under seam sealer.

Oh boy, that looks a lot like mine! Keep up the great work! I keep telling myself I only need to do this once and then move on to the next thing.
