Decided to pull the trigger on a Progression Ignition distributor. I really like the idea of being able to "lock" the ignition and also have the RPM, Speedometer and Vacuum readouts right on my phone.

I did have to grind down about a 1/4" off the cylinder head for it to drop in without interference (stock heads). Otherwise the install was straightforward. An aside, I had upgraded the stock electronic dizzy with the GM HEI setup and the wiring was straightforward.

As for the configuration, these are the options that I started with to create a timing curve:

Idle Speed: 670
Idle Timing: 18 degrees
Max RPM-based timing: 34 degrees (mechanical advance)
All-in RPM: 2750
Max Vac Advance: 8 degrees
Rev Limit: 5500

This is what the timing table looks like using these settings:

I am new to tuning and welcome any feedback from those who have experience with setting proper timing curves.

Any more feedback on this unit?
I am considering one for each of my vehicles.
Did you move you vac advance number up? What is your cruising timing, vac and mechanical?

Too early to have any real updates as the weather hasn't been great. A few drives around town and it seems to work well. Will probably have to wait til spring to get some drive time. I would say the lock out feature is worth it for peace of mind. And the ability to see gauges and adjust on the fly is cool. Certainly more useful for someone experienced with timing but also a great learning tool for me to see what's going on at different RPMs.
