Pulley setup on a 440

So I’ve decided to remove my non working AC setup on my 67 Fury wagon. I’m gonna be adding an Edelbrock Performer RPM along with a head swap to either the performer RPM or a set up stealth heads. Anyway in taking a glance at it today in the yard I realize I’m gonna have to redo my pulleys.
Any advice as to what I’m gonna need?

Find a compete set off a donor car with the accessories you will be using. That way you'll have the correct pulleys, and won't need to play the mix and match game. Can't tell from the picture, but the alternator, water pump and crank will be one belt, the power steering will be routed the same way. You might need to use shims to put the alternator in the correct spot to align the belt.

If you have a single groove pulley on the water pump, you can just run it right to the steering pump. If you have a double groove pulley, run it around the water pump as well. Here's my cobbled setup.

It's not aligned properly, but it works.

I did exactly this. had a non A/C 383 and a A/C 440 sitting here.

main crank pulley is different. Water pump pulley is different.

I tried various combinations of this + that, and ended up making an A/C delete pulley. it mounts using the P/S mount bolt, and sits mostly sorta where the A/C used to sit.

i tried running P/S <> crank <> ALT and didnt like the ALT output. the P/S felt OK.

i got some long grade 5 bolts from lowesdepot and some spacers and brought the ALT forwards up to belt spot #2 where the P/S is

theres a post from me about it somewhere, but IIRC its 1.5" stock from lowesdepot cut to a 6" piece. the pulley is an A/C pulley i had on hand. you can see i took 2 shots at locating it.

tbh it needs to be higher / further away from the waterpump housen.

Just curious,why keep the idler pulley, unless you didn't want to hassle with a tight belt for the crank and water pump?

Oh boy, am I glad of this thread, i'm right at this stage with our 440 '68 Fury, what a nightmare, so many combos, I have loads of pulleys and swopping and changing has got me somewhere near.
That crap 2 piece p/s mounting bracket with the bit of rubber between them is now a prob, was that just fitted to a/c cars? because my RRunner has a much sturdier bracket than that 2 piece tin thing and wondered if it would fit (retrofit?) and ditch this one that has been welded together . Pulley combos revised!

Lot of information here. Basically, you'll need these two pulleys. (Pulled from the 440source page, but the pictures and information is what's important)
383 and 440 water pump and crank pulleys ARE interchangeable between B and RB engines.

Answer to my ques found above, post #1, the OP's car has the strong bracket AND a/c, so I need to get rid of this tin thing and find the good one.
I have 2 p/s pumps and the pulleys are an inch out of alignment one to the other LOL, spokes in the centre of the pulleys, one goes forward, and the other backwards.... bloody nightmare....but a tolerable one. Its all good.

They make those solid brackets for your pump, can't remember where, but they are out there.

Does that bracket fit both the Federal and TRW pumps? I thought that the bracket with the rubber in between was for a TRW pump in a B/RB, and the solid bracket was for the Federal pump.

You'll need non-A/C alternator brackets too, they are reproduced and don't cost that much.

Here's a factory style: (notice the 2 side by side holes, B/RB)

The chrome ones are about half that price.

I got a solid bracket for the TRW pump off my non A/C parts car, and it bolted up to my A/C cars pump.
