2 diff questions:

1. Wouldn't a canadian built car have the fender tag in the same place as the US built cars? (1969 monaco)
2. Anyone ever import a car from Ca into the U.S.? Need to find out more.

Fender Tag should be on the Core Support like in the US, that is the same between the two although chances are you will have a Windsor Ontario Built car.

Can't answer your second question. Bought my Canadian built car in Canada.

Nick

The owner of this car says he has no recollection of ever seeing the fender tag on the car, but he is going to look tomorrow.

I'm not keen on missing fender tags....but I may have the chance to get a decent and rare car.

and what is this deal with every guy I know of in CA living near/in Toronto, but the guy selling this lives 2.5 hrs north of there.

"CA"...California? So you want to bring up a CA car into Canada?

I've imported a few cars from the US into Canada....not too bad as long as you do your research and make sure all your paper work is good.

As for a lack of a fender tag...does the guy have a build sheet? If he has that then the fender tag is really a moot point. Nice to have =, but the build sheet tells the complete story...and you could always have a new tag made later if you have the build sheet.

Thrashing: Sorry, I meant CA as canada - talking abt bringing a canadian car into the US. I did not ask abt a build sheet, but he thinks the carpets are original, so there may be one in there.

Dave - not initially, but the eng could always be built or swapped out. Not that I would want to swap it out, but what is the best I can get HP wise out of a 318? The stroke has its limits, I just don't know where they are. That's the issue with the Canadian cars, almost all of them have 318s, including that 500 htp that Greg mentioned. Flip side: they aren't too expensive.

This is very preliminary........I will not buy the car w/o having someone take a look. I hAVE SOMEONE who might be able to, not sure yet. And if that happens then I still need to look at the shipping costs.

i'll keep you guys posted.

Hell of a difference from someone bitching that they want a 383 hp or a 440 and now considering a 318. I guess rarity trumps horse power. I hope to have a 69 Monaco ragtop one day, so I'd be evnvious

This lil sucker will bolt right in...

I'd drop a built SB stroker before going through the hassles of modifying the frame for a BB swap.
And with electronic ignition, I wouldn't care that the distributor was rubbing up against the firewall

Now who wasnt thinking? No change needed for the frame, it bolts right in. A radiator, transmission, drive shaft, and manifolds from a donor is all you need
